Job Summary
Senior Software Engineer III – API Testing, DB Testing & Test Automation.
Job Family: IFT > Engineering/Dev
Shift: Full Time Employee
Location: Bangalore / Hyderabad / Gurugram
Responsibilities
- Contribute to planning and execution for API testing, DB testing, and test automation workstreams, supporting sprint planning inputs, milestone tracking, and delivery forecasting for releases.
- Support delivery governance by providing accurate technical updates for plans and RAID items; proactively raise risks and dependencies related to test data, environment readiness, and automation stability.
- Drive end‑to‑end SDLC testing execution: requirements/test scenario readiness, test design, automation development, peer reviews, test strategy (smoke/regression), release sign‑off support, and production validation/hyper‑care.
- Design and maintain an automation framework for API and integration testing (functional + negative + contract), and integrate automated suites into CI/CD for continuous testing and reporting.
- Perform and automate database testing: data validation, reconciliation between source/target, SQL‑based checks, data quality rules, and downstream impact analysis (including Snowflake validations where applicable).
- Drive engineering excellence and compliance by improving defect leakage/DRE, cycle time, and release stability, while ensuring alignment with security, privacy, and healthcare compliance expectations in partnership with InfoSec/Compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering (or equivalent practical experience).
- 6+ years of experience in QA automation / test engineering with strong hands‑on expertise in API testing, database testing, and automation frameworks for enterprise applications.
- Strong experience in API validation (REST) including functional, negative, regression, and basic contract testing using tools/frameworks such as Postman/Newman, Rest Assured, Karate, or similar.
- Strong database testing skills (SQL proficiency) including data validation/reconciliation, data quality checks, and troubleshooting across relational databases and Snowflake (preferred).
- Proven experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks (Java/Python/JS) and integrating automated suites into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins/GitLab/GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps) with clear reporting.
- Experience with test strategy and execution across environments: test data management, environment readiness, defect management, and release sign‑off support.
- Exposure to cloud‑based testing setups (AWS concepts such as logging/monitoring, networking basics) is a plus; ability to diagnose issues using logs and metrics.
- Experience working in Agile delivery (Scrum/Kanban) with strong communication and cross‑team collaboration skills.
Experience
Minimum relevant experience: 5+ years
Preferred total experience: 6+ years
Skills & Competencies
- Experience testing event‑driven and streaming integrations (e.g., Kafka, AWS SNS/SQS, Kinesis, ActiveMQ), including validation of ordering, retries, idempotency, and DLQ scenarios.
- Familiarity with data validation for AWS/Snowflake workloads: ETL/ELT reconciliation, batch vs streaming checks, lineage/traceability requirements, and automated data quality rule enforcement.
- Exposure to DevOps/SRE‑aligned QA practices: CI/CD‑based continuous testing, release orchestration, observability‑driven debugging (logs/metrics/traces), incident triage, and reliability measures (SLO/SLI awareness).
- Healthcare domain experience (claims, eligibility, provider/member data) with strong awareness of HIPAA/PHI handling, security, auditability, and compliance expectations.
- Experience with containerized test execution (Docker) and running automation in Kubernetes/EKS or similar environments; familiarity with IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation) is a plus for environment/test harness setup.
- Nice to have: exposure to security testing basics and secure testing practices (secrets handling, AWS KMS/Secrets Manager concepts, RBAC validation in Snowflake, access control test scenarios).
