Job summary

SBS seeks an experienced Senior Software Engineer – Java Backend & Microservices to design, develop, and deliver scalable software for banking/financial services. You will build RESTful APIs, work with PostgreSQL/MongoDB, Redis and modern microservices architectures, and contribute to architecture decisions.

You will mentor juniors, participate in Agile ceremonies, and drive code quality, performance, and continuous improvement across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of software development experience with Java 8 or above.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Microservices, RESTful APIs.
• Strong understanding of OOP, data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and SOLID principles.
• Experience with solution design, distributed systems, and scalable architecture.
• Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Experience building enterprise-grade software products.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Senior Software Engineer – Java Backend & Microservices to join our engineering team at SBS.

In this role, you will design, develop, and deliver scalable, high-performance software solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and modern microservices architecture. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to solution design and architectural decisions, and help build enterprise-grade products for the banking and financial services industry.

We are looking for someone who enjoys hands-on coding, takes ownership of technical solutions, and contributes to continuous improvement in engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
• Contribute to solution architecture, High-Level Design (HLD), Low-Level Design (LLD), and technical decision-making.
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services for enterprise-grade applications.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and caching technologies like Redis.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, QA, and engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, technical discussions, and code reviews.
• Contribute to product architecture improvements, technical scalability, and application performance optimization.

Required Skills & Experience

• At least 6–8 years of software development experience with strong hands-on expertise in Java 8 or above.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Microservices, and RESTful APIs.
• Good understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and SOLID principles.
• Experience with solution design, distributed systems, and scalable application architecture.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
• Understanding of caching mechanisms such as Redis.
• Experience with Hibernate/JPA and modern backend development practices.
• Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Good understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Strong analytical, debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

Good to Have

• Experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native application development.
• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, or Ansible.
• Experience with Spring Batch, reactive programming, or event-driven architectures.
• Working knowledge of Angular or other frontend technologies.
• Familiarity with Python scripting and development automation.
• Experience building enterprise-grade software products.
• Exposure to Banking, Financial Services, Fintech, or Payments domains.
