Job summary

American Express in Chennai invites an experienced senior software engineer to lead the development of advertising capabilities and platforms across Amex Travel, Resy, and Amex App. You will work with product, technology, marketing, and legal teams to deliver scalable, compliant digital experiences, mentor junior engineers, and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to development of Amex advertising capabilities, including ad serving, targeting, and measurement
• Design, build, and deploy advertising capabilities across platforms such as Amex Travel, Resy, and the Amex App
• Collaborate with product, technology, marketing, control management, and legal teams
• Assess third-party technology solutions for suitability in the emerging platform
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, and internal technology partners
• Perform code reviews to ensure high-quality releases, excellent user experiences, scalability, and regulatory compliance
• Identify opportunities for code sharing, common services, and joint development
• Keep up with industry research and emerging technologies
• Interview candidates to help recruit technical and non-technical talent
• Coach and potentially lead junior engineers

Job description

Requirements

• Strong technical foundation in coding practices, architecture, design, complex integrated architectures, coding systems, and interface design
• Digital Advertising and/or Media network software engineering experience is preferred
• Hands-on experience using and implementing SaaS products is preferred
• Experience with Adobe Experience Cloud/Platform and Adobe Creative Cloud is preferred
• 8+ years of demonstrable experience building and deploying large-scale software products
• Strong experience in design, Agile development, and code reviews for full-stack solutions
• Significant experience with Java, REST APIs, cloud engineering, and building digital experiences
• Strong understanding and experience in CI/CD, DevOps, and system and platform resiliency
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to non-technical individuals
• Experience or exposure with technology planning and road mapping
• Proven track record leading problem analysis and resolution
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or Information Systems, or equivalent work experience
• Advanced degree preferred
• Knowledge of American Express Marketing & Data platforms and software development practices is a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
• Ability to create and deliver effective presentations to executive leadership and technical architects is a plus
• Proven ability to develop and execute against a platform vision, strategy, and priorities
• Ability to partner with technology peers to drive technical solutions forward
