Job summary

Akamai Bengaluru seeks a Senior Software Engineer to help build and manage mission-critical lab infrastructure for the Akamai Cloud. You will collaborate with development and SRE teams to scale deployment stacks and observability.

The role emphasizes IaC, container orchestration, Linux fundamentals, Python REST APIs, and cross-functional collaboration across a global team.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of software engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in work experience.
• Experience with IaC automation (Terraform, CrossPlane).
• Experience with configuration management: Ansible, SaltStack, Puppet.
• Experience with container orchestration: Kubernetes, Nomad.
• Strong Linux, networking and command line skills.
• Experience with Python and RESTful APIs (Flask, Django).
• Familiar with AI tooling for troubleshooting and SQL databases.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will collaborate with development and site reliability teams in building and managing mission‑critical lab infrastructure services and environments for the Akamai Cloud platform. You'll contribute directly to scaling our infrastructure and management tools driving development and testing improvements felt throughout our entire organization.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Developing the deployment stack responsible for building new test datacenters on the Lab Platform.
• Designing monitoring solutions with new and existing observability tooling to ensure the health of our Lab Services.
• Identifying bottlenecks with deployment and configuration frameworks, proposing solutions that improve performance and reliability.
• Collaborating with senior engineers, architects, and experts to develop solutions enhancing speed and assurance in shipping products effectively.
• Working on a highly collaborative global team that values feedback and open communication

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 5 to 8 years of experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in work experience.
• Be experienced with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) automation/Terraform/CrossPlane, configuration management systems such as Ansible, SaltStack, or Puppet, secrets management HashiCorp Vault.
• Possess experience in container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, Nomad and dev‑environment tooling (e.g. Kind, Docker Compose, Tilt).
• Demonstrate an understanding of Core Linux concepts, networking and skills in using the command line where appropriate
• Be able to build & configuring Jenkins (GitHub), use Prometheus and Grafana to monitor, visualize, and generate metrics for system alerting.
• Have demonstrated background using Python and RESTful API frameworks, including Flask and Django
• Be able to use AI tooling for troubleshooting, comfortable working with relational databases such as MySQL or Postgres.
