Akamai Technologies, Inc. in Bengaluru, India seeks a Senior Software Engineer to advance the virtualization stack and optimize VM performance. You will work with QEMU, QAPI, and QMP, applying Linux kernel features for enhanced hypervisor efficiency and stack functionality.

You will research open-source integrations, provide technical leadership, and contribute to host-side software in Akamai data centers, while mentoring teammates in a collaborative, agile environment.

Formación

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Working on the virtualization stack (QEMU, QAPI, QMP) and VM optimization
• Leveraging Linux kernel features to enhance hypervisor performance and stack functionality.
• Researching, proposing, and integrating relevant open-source projects based on product objectives
• Providing technical expertise and leadership for your team.
• Developing and engineering the software running on the hosts in our data centers
• Working with a team & helping through hiring, training, coaching and mentoring.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have at-least 5 years of relevant experience in optimized software running on large distributed production environments & a Bachelors degree (CS)
• Have experience developing software on the Linux kernel. QEMU, Scheduling, Live migrations, memory organization, API, & debugging is advantageous.
• Be proficient in writing organized, efficient, and well-documented Python code; knowledge of Go or Perl is advantageous.
• Have experience developing systems software on Linux, with a good understanding of Linux internals, processes and threads, cgroups, and resource management.
• Have knowledge of NUMA architecture, CPU topology, memory locality, and scheduling.
• Have experience designing abstract software architectures from ideas through implementation and creatively apply domain experience to solve technical challenges
