Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Software Engineer to join our ESXi App Infrastructure team. You will contribute to the design, development, integration, and optimization of core infrastructure components, ensuring seamless operations and extensibility for modern workloads. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain core ESXi user‑space services like vmsyslogd, healthd, NTP/PTP, and snmpd.
- Integrate and maintain critical open‑source components (e.g., Python, GCC) into the ESXi infrastructure.
- Implement robust security measures using Mandatory Access Control and least privilege enforcement.
- Collaborate with partner teams to streamline ESXi extension integrations.
- Enhance developer productivity by improving ESXi’s build system, tooling, and debug infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in complex multi-threaded environments with attention to performance and system-level behavior.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 12+ years of hands‑on experience in systems programming on Unix/Linux platforms.
- Deep expertise in multi‑threaded programming, inter‑process communication (IPC), synchronization, memory management, and operating system internals.
- Strong proficiency in C and C++, with a proven track record in developing production‑grade system libraries, services, and APIs.
- Experience working with open‑source software and integrating OSS components; upstream contribution is a plus.
- Solid understanding of Unix/Linux user space development and performance optimization techniques.
- Preferred experience with build systems (especially Bazel) and internal developer tooling.
