Amazon Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer for the Core Services team. Join a world-class Risk Management group focused on eCommerce fraud prevention and customer trust.

Work on internet-scale systems, cloud services, and AI-first technology to evaluate risk across orders, sign-ins, listings, and more. You will mentor engineers, lead design and architecture efforts, and deliver scalable solutions with low latency and cost.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software language.
• 5+ years leading design or architecture of systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or engineering team lead.
• 8+ years of full SDLC including coding standards, reviews, source control, CI/CD, testing, and operations.
• Knowledge of SDLC best practices for architectures, reviews, CI/CD, testing, operations.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering/Math or equivalent, or CI/CD experience.
• Strong problem-solving with attention to detail.
• Strategic thinking, ownership, and deep technical problem solving.

The Core Services team owns the charter of evaluating bad actor risk of all kinds (Buyer, Seller, Brand, Vendor) across entities such as Orders, Returns, Sign-ins, Listings and any event that will be useful to evaluate risky behavior. We build self-service capabilities to experiment and launch new use cases while making it easy to on-board and manage existing ones all over the world. We are the gate keepers of customer trust by preventing bad actors from doing damage to good customers or scamming Amazon. The problems we solve will challenge the best in terms of scale (100s of billion evaluations) and latency (think milliseconds) while operating at the lowest cost. This role requires expertise in technical leadership, strategic thinking, and a passion for mentoring others.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• 8+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

• 8+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent, or experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery
• Problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
• Track record of thinking strategically, taking ownership, and diving deep into technical problems
