Job summary

Capillary Technologies is seeking a Senior Architect to drive the technical evolution of our core SaaS loyalty platform. You will own end-to-end system design across API frameworks, backend services, caching, queues, storage, and cloud infrastructure.

This role is hands-on and collaborative: partner with Product and Engineering leadership to define platform strategy, write RFCs, conduct reviews, build POCs, and mentor engineers to improve performance and scalability.

Qualifications

• 10–14 years of experience designing, building, and scaling high-throughput distributed systems in product or SaaS environments.
• Broad tech stack experience across API layers, backend services, caching, queues, and cloud deployments.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases with caching mechanisms.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end system architecture design across full stack (API, processing, storage, deployment).
• Lead technical reviews, RFCs, and POC development; mentor engineers.
• Partner with Product to translate requirements into scalable, maintainable designs and clean APIs.
• Focus on system resilience, observability, performance profiling, and maintainability.

Capillary is looking for a Senior Architect to drive the technical evolution of our core SaaS loyalty platform. In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end system design—spanning API frameworks, backend services, caching layers, message queues, storage engines, and cloud infrastructure.

This is not a hands-off, pure oversight role. You will partner closely with Product and Engineering leadership to define platform strategy, author technical specifications, conduct deep code and architectural reviews, build POCs, and dive into the codebase whenever complex performance or scalability bottlenecks emerge across the stack.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-End System Architecture: Design, scale, and modernize platform architecture across the full technical stack—from API layers and background workers to caching, message streams, data stores, and cloud deployment pipelines.
• Hands-on Technical Leadership: Author comprehensive technical design documents (RFCs), conduct deep pull-request (PR) reviews, build proof-of-concept (POC) code, and troubleshoot low-level production issues alongside engineering teams.
• Product & Platform Partnership: Collaborate directly with Product Management to translate complex business requirements into modular, scalable, and maintainable system designs and clean API contracts.
• Engineering Rigor & Mentorship: Elevate technical standards across squads—focusing on system resilience, observability, performance profiling, and maintainability—mentoring senior engineers without relying on direct authority.

What We Are Looking For

• 10-14 Years of Experience: Proven track record of designing, building, and scaling high-throughput distributed systems in product or SaaS environments.
• Broad Tech Stack Expertise: Hands-on experience across the entire software stack:
• Languages & Frameworks: Modern backend languages (e.g., Java, Go, Python, or Node.js) and ecosystem frameworks.
• Data & Cache: Practical knowledge of relational/NoSQL databases alongside caching mechanisms (e.g., Redis, Memcached).
• Queues & Event Streams: Experience with asynchronous messaging architectures (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS).
• Infrastructure & Cloud: Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern CI/CD/DevOps practices.
• Distributed Systems Mastery: Strong grasp of system availability, fault tolerance, rate limiting, async processing, service-to-service communication, and latency optimization.
• Hands-On Mindset: You are comfortable reading and reviewing code, writing technical specifications, and prototyping solutions to unblock teams.
• Pragmatic Problem Solver: Ability to make smart trade-offs between architectural elegance and time-to-market, managing technical debt deliberately.
