Job summary

Google Cloud is seeking a Senior Silicon Electrical Validation Engineer to drive post-silicon validation and hardware emulation efforts. You will collaborate across teams to bring-up prototypes, debug complex issues, and ensure robust functional coverage for high-performance silicon.

The role requires deep expertise in electrical validation, embedded software, and lab-based debugging, with opportunities to mentor junior engineers and advance silicon validation methodologies at Google scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with functional tests for silicon validation or developing embedded software.
• Experience in silicon bring-up, functional validation, characterizing and qualifying silicon.
• Experience with board schematics, layout, and debug methodologies using lab equipment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute tests in post-silicon validation and on hardware emulators and assist in bring-up processes from prototyping through post-silicon validation.
• Drive debugging and investigation efforts to root-cause complex issues across pre- and post-silicon environments.
• Ensure validation provides necessary functional coverage for confident design.
• Help operate and maintain our hardware emulation platform for pre-silicon integration and validation.

Senior Silicon Electrical Validation Engineer, Google Cloud

Mid

Experience driving progress, solving problems, and mentoring more junior team members; deeper expertise and applied knowledge within relevant area.

In most instances, this position requires in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with functional tests for silicon validation (e.g., C, C++ or Python) or developing embedded software.
• Experience in silicon bring-up, functional validation, characterizing, and qualifying silicon.
• Experience with board schematics, layout, and debug methodologies using lab equipment.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, with an emphasis on computer architecture.
• Experience in hardware emulation, including hardware/software integration (i.e., pre-silicon use of emulation and software-based test and diagnostics development).
• Experience with power characterization, Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe), and Double Data Rate (DDR).
• Experience in scripting (e.g., Python) for automation development.
• Knowledge of SoC architecture, including boot flows.
