Job summary

Waisl in Goa, India is seeking a Senior Server Engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise server and storage environments. You will manage VMware ESXi/vCenter, Linux administration, and modern storage platforms (HPE 3PAR/Primera, Hitachi VSP).

You will ensure high availability, DR, backup strategies, perform RCA, and mentor junior engineers. Collaborate with network, security, and application teams, develop SOPs and capacity reports, and drive automation and monitoring.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of enterprise server/storage administration.
• Hands-on VMware virtualization expertise: ESXi, vCenter, vSphere, vSAN, vMotion, HA, DRS.
• Linux administration (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu) with scripting (Bash, Python, Ansible) preferred.
• Experience with HPE (3PAR, Primera) and Hitachi VSP storage including replication.
• Knowledge of SAN/NAS, zoning, multipathing, and fabric management.
• Backup solutions and DR processes (Veeam/Commvault/NetBackup).
• Strong troubleshooting and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Capacity planning, performance optimization, and automation.

Responsibilities

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Server Engineer to manage, optimize, and support our enterprise server and storage infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in VMware virtualization, Linux systems administration, and enterprise storage platforms (HPE/Hitachi). This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-availability environments, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability across mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain VMware ESXi, vCenter, and vSphere environments.
• Perform Linux server administration (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu) including patching, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and automation.
• Manage and support HPE 3PAR, Primera, Hitachi VSP or equivalent enterprise storage systems (provisioning, zoning, replication, performance monitoring).
• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies for servers and storage.
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for complex server/storage issues and implement permanent fixes.
• Collaborate with application, network, and security teams for infrastructure integration.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and capacity reports.
• Implement and optimize monitoring solutions for proactive infrastructure management.
• Participate in infrastructure upgrade, migration, and consolidation projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance for escalated issues.

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of experience in enterprise server/storage administration.
• Strong hands‑on experience with VMware virtualization technologies (ESXi, vCenter, vSphere, vSAN, vMotion, HA, DRS).
• Expertise in Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) system administration, scripting (Bash, Python, or Ansible preferred).
• Proven experience with HPE (3PAR, Primera) and Hitachi VSP storage systems including replication, thin provisioning, and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of SAN/NAS technologies, zoning, multipathing, and fabric management (Brocade/Cisco MDS).
• Familiarity with backup solutions (Veeam, Commvault, NetBackup) and disaster recovery processes.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience in capacity planning, performance optimization, and infrastructure automation.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross‑functional teams.
