Job summary

Persistent is seeking a Senior SAP ABAP Consultant in Pune to lead ABAP development across ECC landscapes and to own WRICEF/RICEFW objects for global stakeholders.

You will design, build and enhance ABAP developments from scratch, troubleshoot production issues and ensure adherence to coding standards and transport processes. Strong hands-on experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Relevant SAP ABAP experience across SAP ECC environments.
• Hands-on development mindset; not limited to advisory roles.
• Experience delivering WRICEF/RICEFW objects and complex interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Develop ABAP objects from scratch based on functional specs.
• Modify and optimize existing developments, user exits, BADIs, reports, interfaces, conversions and forms.
• Prepare technical designs, unit test evidence, deployment notes and support documentation.
• Own WRICEF/RICEFW objects and deliver across SAP ECC landscapes.
• Handle end-to-end development lifecycle: analysis, build, unit testing, defect fixes and production deployment.

About Position:

We are looking for a Senior SAP ABAP Consultant with strong hands-on development experience in SAP ECC and deep expertise across all types of WRICEF / RICEFW objects. The resource should be able to understand business and functional requirements, prepare technical designs, build developments from scratch, enhance or modify existing objects, resolve defects, troubleshoot production issues, and support global stakeholders with reliable technical delivery.

What You'll Do:

• ABAP Development and Delivery
• Design, develop and deliver SAP ABAP objects from scratch based on approved functional specifications and technical requirements.
• Modify, enhance and optimise existing custom developments, user exits, BADIs, reports, interfaces, conversions and forms.
• Prepare technical design documents, unit test evidence, deployment notes and support documentation.
• WRICEF / RICEFW Object Ownership
• Work independently on Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms and Workflows across SAP ECC landscapes.
• Handle end-to-end development lifecycle including analysis, build, unit testing, defect fixes, code review support and production deployment support.
• Ensure all developments follow agreed coding standards, naming conventions, performance guidelines and transport processes.
• Troubleshooting and Production Support
• Analyse and resolve ABAP related incidents, defects, data issues, interface failures and performance problems.
• Use debugging, traces, dumps, logs and technical analysis to identify root cause and implement sustainable fixes.
• Support change requests, enhancements and minor developments with clear impact assessment and effort estimates.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• Relevant SAP ABAP experience, preferably with exposure to global clients or international delivery models.
• Hands-on developer mindset is essential; the role is not limited to coordination or advisory responsibilities.
• Experience in development from scratch, modification of existing objects, changes, defect resolution and troubleshooting is mandatory.
• Experience working in SLA-driven support or change request environments is preferred.
• Should be comfortable working flexible hours to support global stakeholder overlap.
