Job summary

Netaji Subhas Medical College & Hospital is seeking a Senior Resident – Orthopaedics to join its Patna-based orthopaedics department. The role involves assisting consultants, evaluating and managing orthopaedic patients, participating in trauma and surgical services, and providing preoperative and postoperative care while mentoring students.

The ideal candidate will have 5–7 years of orthopaedics experience and an MS (Orthopaedics).

Qualifications

• 5–7 years experience in orthopaedics as Senior Resident or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive orthopaedic care to assigned patients.

• Supervise Junior Residents and medical students; bedside teaching.

Job Description

The Senior Resident – Orthopaedics will assist consultants and faculty members in evaluating and managing orthopaedic patients, participating in trauma and surgical services, providing preoperative and postoperative care, teaching students, and maintaining high standards of patient safety.

• Provide comprehensive orthopaedic care to assigned patients.
• Conduct detailed medical histories and musculoskeletal examinations.
• Evaluate patients and develop appropriate differential diagnoses.
• Assist consultants in planning surgical and non-surgical treatment.
• Participate in inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and orthopaedic ward services.
• Assist in fracture management and trauma care.
• Assist consultants during orthopaedic surgeries and procedures.
• Participate in preoperative preparation and postoperative management.
• Monitor surgical patients and identify complications promptly.
• Interpret X-rays, CT scans, MRI, laboratory investigations, and other reports.
• Assist in managing orthopaedic emergencies according to hospital protocols.
• Perform appropriate clinical procedures within training and institutional guidelines.
• Supervise and guide Junior Residents and medical students.
• Conduct bedside teaching, tutorials, and orthopaedic case discussions.
• Participate in clinical examinations, viva sessions, and academic activities.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records.
• Participate in research projects, case reports, and scientific publications.
• Attend multidisciplinary trauma, rehabilitation, and surgical conferences.
• Follow infection prevention, surgical safety, and hospital protocols.
• Perform additional responsibilities assigned by the Department of Orthopaedics.
