Job Description

The Professor – Ophthalmology will be responsible for providing advanced clinical and academic education in ophthalmology, supervising outpatient and surgical services, managing complex eye disorders, guiding residents and research activities, conducting academic assessments, and promoting high standards of patient safety and eye care.

• Deliver comprehensive lectures on Ophthalmology and related subspecialties.
• Conduct bedside teaching, clinical demonstrations, tutorials, and case discussions.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate ophthalmology education.
• Evaluate and manage patients with ocular and visual disorders.
• Diagnose and treat common and complex ophthalmic conditions.
• Perform and supervise appropriate ophthalmic procedures and surgeries.
• Provide expert management of cataract, glaucoma, corneal, retinal, and other eye conditions.
• Guide residents in comprehensive eye examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, and postoperative care.
• Mentor Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Senior Residents, and Tutors.
• Supervise outpatient, inpatient, emergency, diagnostic, and ophthalmic surgical services.
• Review visual acuity, slit-lamp findings, fundus examination, imaging, and other diagnostic investigations.
• Guide the use and interpretation of ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and investigations.
• Supervise preoperative assessment and postoperative follow-up of surgical patients.
• Conduct clinical examinations, practical assessments, viva voce, and academic evaluations.
• Guide students and residents in research projects, dissertations, case reports, and publications.
• Lead departmental research initiatives and promote evidence-based ophthalmic practice.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and clinical conferences.
• Develop and update academic curriculum, teaching plans, and clinical training programs.
