Job summary

RELX is seeking a Senior Quality Test Engineer I in Mumbai to lead test planning, automation, and quality improvements. The role requires coordinating with developers, product owners, and DevOps to ensure robust software quality across web, API, and backend systems.

You will design test strategies, build automated frameworks, and drive defect prevention while mentoring junior QA engineers and supporting agile ceremonies in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• ,Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software testing and quality assurance.
• Strong experience with test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent.
• Experience testing REST APIs using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or similar.
• Proficiency in Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile, and DevOps practices.
• Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of SQL queries and database testing.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
• Perform functional, integration, system, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites for web, API, and backend applications.
• Identify, document, track, and verify software defects through resolution.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and define quality acceptance criteria.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Perform root cause analysis for defects and recommend preventive actions.
• Support CI/CD pipelines by integrating automated testing into deployment workflows.
• Validate application performance, reliability, and scalability as required.
• Review requirements, designs, and technical specifications to ensure testability and quality coverage.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and promote quality engineering best practices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Quality Engineering function.
