Job summary

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer with strong backend development expertise and solid AWS cloud services knowledge. You will develop and maintain critical components of our payments platform – a scalable, secure, and high-performance system that powers payment operations. Key Responsibilities

• Development & Architecture Develop scalable backend services using Python and AWS-native technologies (Lambdas, Step Functions) and Confluent Kafka messaging

• Participate in code reviews and share knowledge with junior engineers
• AWS & Infrastructure Deploy and manage applications using AWS services (Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, SQS/SNS, EventBridge, API Gateway, CloudWatch)
• Work with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) implementations
• Configure Event Source Mappings (ESMs) and event-driven architectures
• Support CI/CD pipeline improvements and best practices
• Operations & Troubleshooting Contribute to monitoring and observability using AWS CloudWatch
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, testing, and production environmentsParticipate in on-call rotations and support production systems
• Maintain technical documentation for assigned systems and components

Essential Qualifications

• Experience 3-6 years of professional backend development experience
• 1-2 years in a senior or IC (individual contributor) technical role
• Experience working with cross-functional, distributed teams
• Python & Backend Development Strong proficiency in Python for backend service development
• Solid expertise designing and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices
• Good understanding of async, message-based architectures and event-driven patterns
• Familiarity with distributed systems concepts (eventual consistency, idempotency)
• AWS Cloud Services Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and Step Functions
• Solid experience with AWS databases (DynamoDB, DocumentDB)
• Proficiency with AWS event-driven services (SQS/SNS, EventBridge)
• Experience with API Gateway and CloudWatch
• Infrastructure & DevOps Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
