Job summary

VetterTec India in Pune is seeking a Senior Purchaser to lead end-to-end procurement for custom machinery and components. You will evaluate technical and commercial quotations, negotiate terms, and coordinate with Engineering, Production, and Projects to meet procurement requirements.

The role requires 12–20 years in technical procurement, strong mechanical knowledge, and experience with ERP systems and Tally.

Qualifications

• 12–20 years of experience in technical procurement.
• Engineering degree/diploma with strong knowledge of mechanical components, fabrication, machining, welding and drawings.
• Strong experience in project procurement and low-volume, customised machinery/equipment.
• Proven experience in supplier development, qualification, negotiation and performance management.
• Strong commercial skills in quotation evaluation, cost analysis, price negotiation and contract terms.
• Good knowledge of Import/Export, customs, logistics and international documentation.
• Experience with international teams, preferably European/German companies.
• Proactive, independent and able to own the Purchase function.

• Collaborate with VetterTec Germany and other international teams on procurement and technical requirements.
• Maintain ERP/Tally records and ensure purchase documentation and compliance.

For more than 95 years, VetterTec, headquartered in Kassel, Germany, has been developing and manufacturing machines and systems for industrial drying and dewatering, primarily for the food industry. To strengthen our team in Pune, India, we are looking for a Senior Purchaser

Responsibilities

• Lead and independently manage the complete Purchase function for VetterTec India.
• Manage end-to-end procurement for custom-built machinery, fabrication, machining, bought-out components and project requirements.
• Evaluate technical and commercial quotations, negotiate prices, payment terms and delivery conditions, and place purchase orders.
• Review drawings, BOMs and specifications and coordinate with Engineering, Production, Quality and Project teams for procurement requirements.
• Develop, qualify and manage suppliers for fabrication, machining, welding, casting, sheet metal and other specialised components.
• Monitor supplier quality, delivery and project schedules, including regular supplier follow‑up and visits.
• Manage supplier development, alternate sourcing, cost reduction and procurement risk management.
• Handle imports, exports, logistics, customs and related commercial documentation in coordination with internal and external partners.
• Work closely with VetterTec Germany and other international teams on procurement, projects, suppliers and technical requirements.
• Ensure proper ERP/Tally records, invoice verification, purchase documentation and overall compliance of the Purchase function.

Your Profile

• 12–20 years of experience in technical procurement, preferably in heavy engineering, special-purpose machinery or custom machine building.
• Engineering degree/diploma with strong knowledge of mechanical components, fabrication, machining, welding and engineering drawings.
• Strong experience in project procurement and low-volume, customised machinery/equipment.
• Proven experience in supplier development, qualification, negotiation and performance management.
• Strong commercial skills in quotation evaluation, cost analysis, price negotiation and contract/payment terms.
• Good experience in Import & Export, customs, logistics, taxation and international commercial documentation.
• Experience working with international teams, preferably European/German companies, is highly desirable.
• Good knowledge of ERP systems and Tally ERP and strong understanding of purchase documentation and processes.
• Independent, proactive and assertive, with the ability to take full ownership of the Purchase function and get things done through suppliers.
• Excellent English communication and negotiation skills, with willingness to travel to suppliers and work closely with VetterTec's international team.
