JOB DESCRIPTION

SENIOR PROJECTS LEAD

Overview

Spruce Engineering Private Limited is looking for an experienced and result-oriented Senior Projects Lead to manage and drive EPC projects, primarily for Defence establishments and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

The incumbent will be responsible for end-to-end project execution, including planning, coordination, resource management, client communication, vendor coordination, monitoring project progress, and ensuring timely completion within approved cost, quality, and safety requirements.

The role requires strong project management expertise, technical understanding, leadership capability, and excellent communication skills, particularly in dealing with Defence/PSU clients and multiple project stakeholders.

Responsibilities :

Project Planning & Execution

• Lead and manage projects from project initiation through completion and handover.
• Develop project execution plans, schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
• Monitor project progress against approved timelines, budgets, and scope.
• Identify project risks, delays, constraints, and dependencies and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure effective coordination between engineering, procurement, site execution, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
• Ensure project activities are executed in accordance with approved specifications, drawings, BOQ, contracts, and applicable standards.

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Act as the key point of coordination with Defence and PSU clients for project-related matters.
• Conduct regular project review meetings with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain professional and effective communication with clients, consultants, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Prepare and present project progress reports, MIS, dashboards, and status updates to management.
• Address client concerns and ensure timely resolution of project-related issues.

Project Monitoring & Control

• Track project schedules, costs, manpower, materials, equipment, and resources.
• Monitor project milestones and ensure timely achievement of critical deliverables.
• Review project documentation, work orders, drawings, technical submissions, and approvals.
• Coordinate with procurement and vendors to ensure timely availability of materials and equipment.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
• Escalate critical project issues and deviations to management with appropriate recommendations.

Technical & Site Coordination

• Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and other technical teams as applicable.
• Provide technical and execution support to project/site teams.
• Review technical requirements and ensure alignment between design, procurement, and site execution.
• Ensure proper documentation of project activities, inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover.

Contract & Commercial Coordination

• Understand project scope, contractual obligations, timelines, and deliverables.
• Coordinate with commercial/contracts teams for variation orders, claims, additional works, and contractual matters.
• Support timely certification, billing, measurement, and closure of project activities.
• Ensure project execution is aligned with approved commercial and contractual parameters.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with applicable quality, safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate with QA/QC and HSE teams to maintain required project standards.
• Ensure timely closure of observations, NCRs, and client inspection findings.
• Promote a strong safety and quality culture across project sites.

Project Closure

• Ensure completion of all project deliverables and contractual obligations.
• Coordinate testing, commissioning, documentation, and final handover.
• Ensure timely closure of punch points, pending works, and documentation.
• Support final billing, reconciliation, and project close-out.

Required Skills

• Strong Project Management and Project Execution experience.
• Proven experience in handling EPC projects.
• Experience working with Defence / PSU / Government clients will be highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and execution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills Priority.
• Strong client and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Good understanding of contracts, BOQ, drawings, procurement, billing, and project documentation.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
• Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously.
• Strong negotiation and coordination skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Excel and MS Project / equivalent project management tools.
