Job summary

Indian Institute of Technology - Kanpur is seeking a Senior Project Executive Officer on a temporary/contractual basis to design and maintain a structured system for capturing and tracking engineering and science research outputs, including publications, patents, and prototypes.

The role requires strong analytical ability, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently and in a team.

Qualifications

• PhD/MTech or equivalent in a relevant science/engineering field.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain a system to capture and track engineering/science outputs (publications, patents, prototypes, spin-offs).
• Review historical data and integrate older datasets into the analytics framework.
• Periodic analyses to identify strengths, gaps, risks and opportunities for quality improvement.
• Evaluate outputs for quality, real-world relevance, TRL, and commercialization potential; prepare summaries.
• Collaborate with AI platform builders to ensure accurate representation of insights.

Job Title

Job Responsibilities

• Design and maintain a structured system that captures and tracks engineering/science research outputs—such as publications, citations, patents, prototypes, technologies, and start-ups/spin-offs—and regularly collect, review, and analyze this data to identify trends over time.
• Review and analyze historical research data and develop a strategy for integrating older datasets into the current research analytics framework.
• Periodic analyses of research outputs to identify strengths, gaps, potential risks, and opportunities for improving research quality across IITs.
• Evaluate research outputs for their quality, real-world relevance of research/technologies/patent/innovation, TRL level, and commercialization potential, and prepare clear analytical summaries
• Work hand-in-hand with AI-platform builders to ensure that research insights, outputs, and indicators are accurately represented within the platform.
• Benchmark IITs’ research outputs against global institutions and analyze the role of different parameters that influence international rankings and research performance.
• Identify best practices in research across IITs, prepare case studies, and highlight notable success stories or high-impact technological achievements.
• PhD/MTech in Physics/Chemistry/Engineering/Relevant Discipline
• Strong analytical ability with experience in interpreting technical engineering research
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability of working both independently/in team
• Strong capability in data analysis, technical report preparation, preparing/giving presentations

Preferred

• PostDoc in Science/Engineering/Relevant Discipline
• Experience in R&D project handling, technical evaluation, or innovation assessment
• Peer-reviewed publications and/or exposure to patents, prototypes, or technology development

Consolidated Salary Range

INR 70000-5000-200000 /-

Travel

As and when required, within the country for project monitoring and execution as well as for coordination with geographically distributed teams.

Appointment

Initially for a period of one year and, renewable annually based on performance and project requirements.
