Monthly Remuneration: ₹56,000 + 20% HRA (if accommodation is not provided)

Duration: Initially 1 year, extendable up to 3 years based on performance and project requirements.

About the Project

Project Research Scientist – I (Non-Medical) under an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi-sponsored research project:

NIDAAN: Novel AI-enabled Intelligent Detection and Analysis Array for Nephrology in Resource-Limited Settings – Phase II (Prototype Development).

The project focuses on prototype development of an AI-enabled diagnostic platform for nephrology applications, particularly addressing the needs of resource-limited settings.

Role Description

The selected candidate will work as a Project Research Scientist – I in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIT Jamshedpur, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator.

The position offers an opportunity to contribute to interdisciplinary research involving diagnostic technologies, bioassays, microfluidics, instrumentation and prototype development.

The candidate is expected to contribute to research and development activities associated with the project, particularly in the development and advancement of the proposed diagnostic platform.

Essential Qualifications

As per ICMR non-medical recruitment guidelines:

• Postgraduate degree, including integrated postgraduate degrees; OR


• Four-year graduate degree in Engineering / Information Technology / Computer Science.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

Preference will be given to candidates having relevant experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Point-of-care (PoC) or in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) platforms.


• Bio-assay development.


• Image processing and analysis.


• Rapid prototyping and customized instrumentation.


• Microfluidic devices and lab-on-a-chip technologies.


• Handling of physiological samples.


• Clinical validation and ethical guidelines.


• Diagnostic prototype development.


• Relevant industrial experience.
