Simpson E Co. Ltd. in Chennai is seeking a Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer to lead manufacturing project execution for EV motor and controller facilities.

You will oversee end-to-end project management including machine sourcing, CAPEX planning, procurement support, installation, commissioning, and production handover. The role requires strong knowledge of SPM, automation, electrical systems, PLCs, HMIs, and line integration, with exposure to EOL testing systems and automated assembly

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EEE, EIE, Mechatronics, Automation or related field.
• 4–7 years of relevant project engineering experience.
• Experience with EV motor and controller manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

About the Role:

Department : Manufacturing Engineering / Projects Industry : Electric Vehicle (EV) Motor & Controller Manufacturing Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and technically competent Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer to lead manufacturing project execution for EV Motor and Controller production facilities. The candidate will be responsible for end-to-end project management, including machine sourcing, CAPEX planning, technical evaluation, procurement support, installation, commissioning, validation, and production handover. The role requires strong experience in Special Purpose Machines (SPM), industrial automation, electrical systems, PLCs, HMIs, and manufacturing line integration. Exposure to world-class End-of-Line (EOL) testing systems, automated assembly lines, and EV manufacturing processes will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

Project Management

Lead manufacturing projects from concept to production implementation. Prepare project timelines, CAPEX budgets, and project execution plans. Coordinate with internal stakeholders including Production, Quality, Maintenance, R&D, Purchase, Finance, and Suppliers. Track project milestones, risks, and deliverables to ensure timely completion.

CAPEX & Procurement Management

Prepare CAPEX proposals with technical and financial justification. Develop technical specifications and RFQs for equipment procurement. Conduct supplier evaluation, technical discussions, and commercial comparison. Support Purchase team in PO creation, vendor finalization, and procurement. Monitor machine manufacturing progress and supplier compliance.

Machine Installation & Commissioning

Manage machine installation, utility planning, and site readiness activities. Coordinate FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test). Lead machine commissioning and process qualification activities. Ensure all safety, quality, and productivity requirements are met.

Machine Validation & Production Readiness

Execute machine validation protocols and production trials. Perform capability studies and process validation. Establish SOPs, work instructions, preventive maintenance plans, and training documents - Support smooth handover of machines to production teams.

Automation & Controls

Understand PLC architecture, I/O systems, industrial communication protocols, and HMI interfacing. Troubleshoot machine automation and control-related issues. Review and support PLC logic modifications and machine optimization activities. Interface with automation suppliers for technical improvements and upgrades.

EOL & Test Systems

Support installation, commissioning, and validation of EV Motor and Controller End-of-Line (EOL) testing systems. Coordinate with suppliers for performance verification and test automation. Ensure test systems meet quality and customer requirements.

Qualifications

Qualification: B.E./B.Tech – Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related discipline.

Experience

Senior Project Engineer: 4-7 years

Required Skills

Strong knowledge of Special Purpose Machines (SPM). Good understanding of industrial automation and electrical systems. Knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens, Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley, Omron, etc.). Experience in HMI development, interfacing, and troubleshooting. Knowledge of servo systems, sensors, drives, vision systems, and industrial networks. Ability to read electrical schematics, machine layouts, and automation drawings.

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with EV Motor, Controller, Assembly Automation, and EOL Testing Systems is preferred.
