Job summary

ELGI EQUIPMENTS LIMITED is seeking an experienced Product Development Engineer to drive the design, development and continuous improvement of refrigerated compressed-air dryer products. You will handle refrigeration system design, thermal engineering and component selection to ensure performance, reliability and energy efficiency.

You will lead NPD, design verification and cost optimisation, collaborating with manufacturing, procurement and suppliers to deliver robust, certified products.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• M.Tech in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning / Thermal Engineering is an advantage.
• 5-10 years of experience in product design and development of refrigeration systems or related thermal products.
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, heat transfer, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
• Experience with NPD, design validation, and cost optimisation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of refrigerated compressed-air dryers and associated refrigeration systems.
• Drive new product development (NPD), product enhancements and engineering change management.
• Perform refrigeration load calculations, thermal calculations and component sizing.
• Design and select refrigeration system components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, fans and refrigerant control components.
• Work on refrigerant circuit design, piping layout, refrigerant line sizing and pressure-drop calculations.
• Coordinate prototype development, product testing, performance validation and design verification.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, energy efficiency improvement and design optimisation.
• Work closely with manufacturing, procurement, quality and suppliers to ensure design feasibility and product reliability.
• Ensure compliance with applicable product standards, statutory requirements and certification processes.
• Provide technical guidance and support to cross-functional engineering teams.

Job description

• Lead the design and development of refrigerated compressed-air dryers and associated refrigeration systems.


• Drive new product development (NPD), product enhancements and engineering change management.


• Perform refrigeration load calculations, thermal calculations and component sizing.


• Design and select refrigeration system components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, fans, expansion devices and refrigerant control components.


• Work on refrigerant circuit design, piping layout, refrigerant line sizing and pressure-drop calculations.


• Coordinate prototype development, product testing, performance validation and design verification.


• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, energy efficiency improvement and design optimisation.


• Work closely with manufacturing, procurement, quality and suppliers to ensure design feasibility and product reliability.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. M.Tech in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning / Thermal Engineering will be an added advantage.


• 5-10 years of relevant experience in product design and development of refrigeration systems, compressed-air dryers, HVAC equipment or related thermal products.


• Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, heat transfer, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.


• Hands-on experience in refrigeration calculations, compressor selection, condenser and evaporator sizing, and refrigerant piping design.


• Exposure to refrigerated compressed-air dryers, refrigeration compressors, heat exchangers and refrigerant control components will be preferred.


• Experience in NPD, design validation, engineering change management and cost optimisation.


• Good understanding of manufacturing processes, product testing and supplier coordination.


• Strong problem-solving, analytical and cross-functional collaboration skills.
