Overview
Senior/Principal Piping Engineer to join the Energy Transition iCRC India Team, focusing on leading mechanical design for a range of energy projects including conventional power plants, energy from waste plants, industrial facilities and carbon capture schemes. Location: Bangalore.
Responsibilities
A typical week would include:
- Working with the project team to develop cost-effective, efficient and innovative solutions to complex problems to create practical designs based on these solutions;
- Working on projects in a variety of stages of maturity, including Feasibility Studies, Concept Designs, FEED Studies, Value Engineering and Detailed Design. There will be opportunities for site work during project development, construction and commissioning;
- Preparation of Piping deliverables such as wall thickness calculations, piping specifications, datasheets for valves, expansion joints, and other piping components;
- Undertaking detailed piping stress analysis;
- Working closely with process engineers in development of process flow diagrams and piping & instrumentation diagrams;
- Supporting development of plant layouts and plant 3D models;
- Provide engineering advice and technical solutions in relation to plant integrity issues on operational assets;
- Developing proposals and bids for the piping and layout discipline and contributing to multi-disciplinary proposals;
- Provide technical leadership and governance; and
- Coach and mentor junior staff to develop their expertise and knowledge
Qualifications
- A Degree in a relevant Engineering subject;
- Chartered Engineer or working towards IEng/CEng and a member of relevant Engineering Institute (preferred);
- Significant work experience within Power Generation, Process or Oil & Gas industry;
- The ability and desire to assume a lead role in the development of piping engineering deliverables;
- Knowledge of national and international codes and standards used within the industry covering design and manufacturing requirements of plant equipment and piping;
- Experience of carrying out piping design and stress analysis;
- Experience of working in a multidiscipline team on plant 3D models;
- Experience of thermal plant operational and integrity issue troubleshooting and problem solving;
- Proficient in the use of Caesar II stress analysis software;
- Be familiar with the Autodesk suite of products, specifically AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks and BIM360;
- Must be proficient in the use of MS Office suite of products to create technical reports, specifications, schedules and calculations;
- Proven understanding of the design process and ability to demonstrate working knowledge of brief / scope documents, design concepts as well as experienced in producing calculations;
- Experience of working with clients and contractors with a diverse range of objectives in achieving a technical solution.
