Job summary

Jacobs seeks a seasoned Transmission Line engineer to tackle complex projects up to EHV levels, with 12+ years of experience in electrical, civil, or structural disciplines. You will prepare conceptual and detailed designs, cost estimates, and documentation, while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with leads.

Hybrid work policy enables split weeks between Jacobs offices and remote locations, with strong focus on client interaction and delivering high-quality drawings on schedule.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's in Electrical, Civil, or Structural engineering with around 12+ years of experience.
• Formal post‑graduate or industry technical training in Transmission Line design is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Prepare conceptual designs for Transmission Line works, including supporting design reports.
• Prepare detailed design drawings, reports, specifications, bills of materials and other documentation for Transmission Line works.
• Review contractor design documentation and project implementation schedules and procedures.
• Prepare and review capital cost estimates.
• Mentor senior engineers and collaborate with leads.
• Plan, schedule, conduct and communicate work with team members on all design aspects of the project.
• Attend client meetings for technical clarifications.
• Deliver drawings to desired quality standards and timelines with the client.

About You

• Has a sound understanding of technical fundamentals in the relevant Transmission Lines discipline and can solve engineering problems from first principles for overhead lines up to EHV level (330 kV and above).
• Has an in‑depth understanding of Transmission Line standards including IEC 60826, IS 802 and BS 8110.
• Prepares conceptual designs for Transmission Line works, including relevant supporting design reports.
• Prepares detailed design drawings, reports, specifications, bills of materials and other documentation for Transmission Line works.
• Injects constructability considerations to positively influence design outcomes.
• Reviews contractor design documentation and project implementation schedules and procedures.
• Prepares and reviews capital cost estimates.
• Can use PLS CADD and PLS CADD/LITE independently and mentor senior engineers.
• Can troubleshoot one’s own modelling by using alternate line engineering techniques.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Civil or Structural) with around 12+ years of experience.
• Formal post‑graduate or industry technical training in Transmission Line design is highly regarded.

• Proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
