Nexperia is seeking a Senior/Principal Application Engineer in Bengaluru to drive reference designs and application boards focusing on BMS, OBC, and DCDC applications for light electric vehicles. You will translate device capabilities into production-ready hardware, deliver high-quality design collaterals, and provide hands-on validation and technical support.

The role bridges product development with customer requirements, enabling faster time-to-market.

Qualifications

• BSEE required; MSEE preferred.
• 5–8 years of experience in application engineering, hardware design or power electronics.
• Proven experience developing reference designs or evaluation boards.
• Strong knowledge of BMS architectures with safety measures advantageous.
• Familiarity with ISO26262, UL standards, and AIS desirable.

Responsabilités

• Design, develop, and validate reference designs and application boards.
• Create schematics, select components, and collaborate on PCB layout to optimize performance, cost, and reliability.
• Validate electrical, thermal, and system-level performance including efficiency, switching, transients, thermal profiling, and EMI/EMC pre-compliance.
• Provide application-focused technical support to customers and sales teams, including troubleshooting and design-in activities.
• Create and maintain high-quality collateral such as application notes, design guides, simulation models, and manuals.
• Collaborate with marketing, R&D, and system architects to define requirements and contribute to the product roadmap.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior/Principal Application Engineer will drive the development of reference designs and application boards with a strong focus on BMS, OBC, DCDC applications in light electric vehicles (LEV) that showcase Nexperia’s portfolio. The person will play a critical role in bridging product development and customer requirements by translating device capabilities into practical, production ready hardware solutions This role is central to enabling customer adoption and accelerating time-to-market through high-quality design collaterals, hands‑on validation and technical support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, and validate reference designs and application boards using Nexperia’s discrete, analog, and power IC solutions
• Create schematics, perform component selection, and collaborate on PCB layout to optimize performance, efficiency, cost, thermal behavior, and reliability
• Perform comprehensive electrical, thermal, and system‑level validation, including efficiency analysis, switching characterization, transient response testing, thermal profiling, and EMI/EMC pre‑compliance evaluation and troubleshooting
• Provide application‑focused technical support to customers and sales teams by troubleshooting designs, supporting design‑in activities, participating in customer engagements, and representing Nexperia at workshops, conferences, and exhibitions
• Create and maintain high‑quality technical collateral such as application notes, design guides, simulation models, user manuals, and web‑based application content
• Build deep application expertise and translate customer insights into future product opportunities by collaborating with marketing, R&D, and system architects to define requirements, identify use cases, and contribute to product roadmap development

SKILLS /COMPETENCIES

Hard Skills: Technical experience in PCB design and layout – Altium, KiCad Familiarity with simulation tools and industry standards - Matlab/Simulink, LT Spice, Plecs, Thermal analysis, EMC compatibility Switching behaviour, losses and efficiency optimization

Soft Skills: Strong analytical and system‑level thinking Hands‑on, problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail Ability to work in cross‑functional and global teams Customer focused approach with strong ownership Excellent presentation and technical writing skills English business fluent verbal and written

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education/ studies: BSEE.
