Job summary

Weekday AI (YC W21) in Bengaluru, India, is seeking an experienced Senior Platform Lead to guide design, development, and evolution of scalable technology platforms. You will lead architecture, ensure reliability at scale, mentor engineers, and collaborate across product, security, and business teams.

The ideal candidate has 5–12 years in software/platform engineering with strong cloud-native and distributed systems expertise, and hands-on abilities in Kubernetes, containers, and DevOps

Qualifications

• 5–12 years of relevant experience in software engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or distributed systems.
• Strong hands-on experience in Platform Engineering.
• Experience with cloud platforms and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, and development of scalable and resilient platform solutions.
• Build and maintain robust platform infrastructure that supports multiple applications, services, and engineering teams.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and help build a strong engineering culture.
• Lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, and design decisions for critical platform initiatives.
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and security across platform systems.
• Drive automation and improve developer productivity through reusable tools, services, and self-service platform capabilities.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend suitable solutions based on business and technical requirements.
• Participate in troubleshooting and resolving complex production issues involving large-scale systems.

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Senior Platform Lead to lead the design, development, and evolution of robust, scalable, and high-performing technology platforms. The ideal candidate will have 5–12 years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, distributed systems, or infrastructure, with strong expertise in building and managing large-scale systems.

As a Senior Platform Lead, you will play a critical role in defining the technical direction and architecture of the platform. You will work closely with engineering, product, infrastructure, security, and business teams to build reliable and scalable systems that enable development teams to deliver products efficiently. You will also provide technical leadership, establish engineering best practices, and help solve complex technical challenges across the organization.

Must-Have Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in Platform Engineering.
• Proven experience designing, building, and operating Large-Scale Systems.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, reliability, availability, and fault tolerance.
• Experience with cloud platforms and cloud-native architectures.
• Strong knowledge of microservices, APIs, containers, and orchestration technologies.
• Experience designing systems capable of supporting high traffic and large-scale workloads.
• Strong understanding of system performance, capacity planning, monitoring, and observability.
• Experience with infrastructure automation and modern DevOps practices.
• Strong problem-solving and system design skills.
• Ability to make sound architectural decisions and manage complex technical challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with distributed databases, messaging systems, caching technologies, and event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with security and compliance considerations in large-scale platforms.
• Previous experience leading technical teams or mentoring engineers.

Experience

• 5–12 years of relevant experience in software engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or distributed systems.
• Demonstrated experience working on complex, scalable, and business-critical systems.
