Position: Staff Engineer - Platform Architecture

Location: Bangalore

Working Days: Monday to Friday

About The Role

We are seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the technical architecture of our platform and drive the successful implementation of complex, distributed systems. This is a senior Individual Contributor (IC) role responsible for translating Technical Requirements Documents (TRDs) into scalable, secure, and reliable system architectures while partnering with engineering teams to ensure high-quality execution.

You will work across multiple products and services simultaneously, influencing technical decisions, establishing architectural standards, and ensuring that every solution aligns with business objectives and long-term platform strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & System Design

• Own the end-to-end architecture for multiple services and platform capabilities.
• Translate product and technical requirements into scalable, maintainable system designs.
• Define APIs, service interactions, data models, event-driven workflows, and integration patterns.
• Ensure solutions meet performance, reliability, scalability, security, and observability requirements.

Technical Leadership

• Partner with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and Software Engineers to drive technical execution.
• Review and approve technical designs and architectural decisions across multiple teams.
• Guide engineers through implementation, resolving architectural challenges and technical risks.
• Influence engineering decisions through mentorship, design reviews, and technical best practices.

Platform Excellence

• Establish and promote engineering standards, reusable design patterns, and architectural principles.
• Drive improvements in platform scalability, reliability, developer productivity, and operational efficiency.
• Lead initiatives to reduce technical debt and improve system maintainability.
• Champion observability, fault tolerance, and production readiness across services.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Product, Engineering, DevOps, QA, and Security teams to ensure successful delivery.
• Identify dependencies, align cross-team architecture, and enable seamless integration between services.
• Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements that strengthen the platform.

QualificationsRequired

• 5-8 years of software engineering experience, including significant experience in system architecture and distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of microservices, APIs, messaging systems, databases, caching, and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience designing scalable, resilient, and high-performance applications.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred

• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, or similar technologies.
• Exposure to AI platforms, workflow orchestration, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience defining engineering standards and conducting architecture reviews.
