Job description

About The Role

About the role

Shopify's partner ecosystem includes agencies, developers, and service providers that help merchants launch, grow, and succeed on Shopify. Across APAC, many partners engage with Shopify through an initial build or referral. This role will develop the scaled programs and journeys that help more of them build capability and create repeat merchant impact.

In this role, you will own programmatic engagement for a large, diverse base of partners with recent Shopify platform activity across APAC. You will initially focus on English-speaking partner audiences across India, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, with the opportunity to extend successful programs into Japan and Greater China through localization and regional collaboration.

This is not a traditional account-management role with a named book of business. You will segment large partner audiences, build journeys and campaigns, run webinars and feedback loops, study behavioral signals, and test what moves partners to a first action and then repeat activity. You will work closely with regional and global teams to improve the partner experience and connect partners showing strong potential with more tailored enablement or one-to-one support.

The opportunity is intentionally early. You will be taking a new motion from 0 to 1, then from 1 to 10 - creating clarity while the data, tools, and operating model continue to evolve.

What you'll do
  • Establish the lifecycle baseline by defining the addressable and reachable partner base, segmenting partners by behaviour and potential, and identifying the most important drop-off points.
  • Design and run partner journeys across campaigns, webinars, office hours, surveys, localized content, and other scalable engagement channels.
  • Build an experimentation rhythm: form clear hypotheses, launch focused tests, measure cohort movement, and use the results to improve the next intervention.
  • Create practical reporting and regular cohort readouts that show partner reach, engagement frequency, repeat participation, development-store activity, referral behavior, and downstream commercial signals.
  • Move more partners from a first referral or build activity into repeat engagement, while creating clean handoffs for partners showing readiness for deeper commercial support.
  • Use AI and automation responsibly to improve segmentation, content adaptation, analysis, signal detection, workflow efficiency, and reporting - while maintaining a high bar for accuracy, judgment, and partner experience.
  • Partner across Community, Partner Marketing, Partner Operations, Partner Solutions, Data, Product, and regional Partner Success teams to align programs, tools, and measurement.
  • Turn regional learning into reusable playbooks and clear requirements that help global teams improve partner lifecycle programs across markets.
What success looks like
  • Created a shared view of the reachable partner base, priority behavioral segments, key funnel drop-offs, and the metrics that matter.
  • Built the first lifecycle operating system, including a journey map, campaign calendar, partner feedback loop, engagement cadence, and repeatable reporting.
  • Launched two or three focused pilots - for example, reducing drop-off after a first referral, increasing repeat partner activity, or improving development-store and merchant activation signals.
  • Produced evidence-based recommendations on which programs to scale, which cohorts need deeper support, and how successful English-language motions should be localized for additional Asian markets and conduct initial pilots.
What you'll bring
  • At least 5 years of experience in lifecycle or growth marketing, partner or ecosystem programs, scaled customer success, customer adoption, or a related field - ideally in SaaS or technology.
  • Proven experience designing and owning scaled lifecycle programs for large audiences, with measurable improvements in activation, engagement, retention, or repeat activity.
  • Hands-on proficiency with CRM, marketing automation, analytics, and experimentation tools to segment audiences, run lifecycle programs, and measure performance.
  • Strong analytical judgment. You are comfortable working with funnel and behavioral data, reading dashboards, defining useful metrics, and turning findings into action.
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI and automation as part of your day-to-day craft, with clear examples of how they improved scale, quality, insight, or decision-making.
  • A track record of delivering cross-functional work in a globally distributed or matrixed organization, without relying on formal authority.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make complex programs easy for internal stakeholders and external partners to understand.
  • An entrepreneurial, get-things-done mindset. You can operate through ambiguity, make thoughtful trade-offs, and build useful v1 systems before every dependency is perfect.
  • Familiarity with the diversity of APAC markets and the judgment to distinguish what can scale regionally from what needs local adaptation.
Nice to have
  • Experience with partner, developer, agency, creator, or small-business ecosystems.
  • Experience using webinar or community platforms to engage and enable partners at scale.
  • Ecommerce or commerce-platform experience.
  • Experience adapting lifecycle programs across multiple languages, markets, or partner channels.
How you work
  • You combine operational discipline with curiosity: you can run the calendar while asking whether the program is changing behaviour.
  • You prioritize outcomes over activity and are comfortable stopping, reshaping, or scaling a program based on evidence.
  • You balance regional context with global reuse, and you make trade-offs visible rather than letting complexity slow progress.
  • You build trust through clear communication, reliable follow-through, and honest reporting of what is and is not working.
Location and travel

This is a remote role open to candidates based anywhere in India. You will generally work standard India business hours, Monday to Friday, with occasional flexibility for regional collaboration. Expect approximately 10% travel for partner ecosystem events, team collaboration, and market learning.

About Shopify

Opportunity is not evenly distributed. Shopify puts independence within reach for anyone with a dream to start a business. We propel entrepreneurs and enterprises to scale the heights of their potential. Since 2006, we’ve grown to over 8,300 employees and generated over $1 trillion in sales for millions of merchants in 175 countries.

This is life-defining work that directly impacts people’s lives as much as it transforms your own. This is putting the power of the few in the hands of the many, is a future with more voices rather than fewer, and is creating more choices instead of an elite option.

About You

Moving at our pace brings a lot of change, complexity, and ambiguity—and a little bit of chaos. Shopifolk thrive on that and are comfortable being uncomfortable. That means Shopify is not the right place for everyone.

Before you apply, consider if you can:

  • Care deeply about what you do and about making commerce better for everyone
  • Excel by seeking professional and personal hypergrowth
  • Keep up with an unrelenting pace (the week, not the quarter)
  • Be resilient and resourceful in face of ambiguity and thrive on (rather than endure) change
  • Bring critical thought and opinion
  • Put AI agents and tools to work on the tasks they're built for, and focus on the work only humans can do
  • Embrace differences and disagreement to get shit done and move forward
  • Work digital-first for your daily work
