Job summary

Kish Group in Kolkata is seeking a merchandising professional to manage day-to-day communication with international buyers, understand requirements, and oversee orders from development to shipment. You will review tech packs, BOMs, and artwork, ensuring all buyer needs are clearly relayed to internal teams and fostering strong buyer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Handle day-to-day communication and coordination with international buyers.
  • Understand buyer requirements, specifications, quality standards, and critical timelines.
  • Manage orders from development/concept stage through shipment.
  • Review tech packs, specifications, BOM, measurement charts, artwork, and buyer comments.
  • Ensure all buyer requirements are clearly communicated to the concerned internal teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers and buying offices.
  • Coordinate development of samples, including proto, fit, size set, PP and shipment samples.
  • Follow up on sample approvals and buyer comments.
  • Coordinate with design, pattern, sampling, and technical teams to ensure timely development.
  • Identify and resolve product development issues at an early stage.
  • Prepare and review garment costing based on fabric, trims, CM, washing, printing, embroidery, packing, and other applicable costs.
  • Negotiate prices with buyers and suppliers while maintaining company margins.
  • Monitor changes in material costs and their impact on order profitability.
  • Ensure commercial feasibility before order confirmation.
  • Coordinate with production planning, sourcing, stores, quality, and factory teams to ensure smooth execution of orders.
  • Monitor T&A (Time and Action) calendars and ensure adherence to critical milestones.
  • Follow up on fabric and trims booking, approvals, cutting, sewing, finishing, packing, and shipment.
  • Identify potential delays and take corrective action proactively.
  • Conduct regular order status reviews with relevant departments.
  • Coordinate fabric and accessory development and approvals.
  • Ensure timely submission and approval of lab dips, strike-offs, print/embroidery samples, trims, and other components.
  • Follow up with sourcing and suppliers for timely delivery of materials.
  • Ensure materials are in line with approved standards and buyer requirements.
  • Work closely with the QA/QC team to ensure products meet buyer quality standards.
  • Monitor quality issues during development and production and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with buyer-specific requirements, testing standards, packaging specifications, and inspection procedures.
  • Monitor shipment schedules and ensure orders are ready within the committed timeline.
  • Coordinate with commercial/logistics teams for documentation and shipment execution.
  • Ensure packing, carton markings, shipping marks, and documentation comply with buyer requirements.
  • Coordinate with relevant teams to resolve shipment-related issues.
  • Guide and supervise merchandising executives/merchandisers.
  • Allocate accounts and responsibilities effectively.
  • Review team performance, order status, and critical issues.
  • Support team members in resolving buyer and production-related challenges.
  • Train and develop junior merchandising team members.
