Job summary

JB Poindexter (India) Private Limited, a subsidiary of J.B. Poindexter & Co., Inc., seeks a Design Engineer to design products and custom options to meet customer needs in the truck body domain.

The role involves creating 2D drawings in SolidWorks, 3D modeling of sheet metal, updating legacy CAD models, and producing production drawings with DraftSight; familiarity with PDM and JDE is a plus; strong team collaboration and English communication required.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering with 8–10 years of experience, or an associate degree with 10–12 years.
• 4+ years of experience in truck body design elements.
• SolidWorks/PDM proficiency and certification preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of sheet metal design and weld fabrication processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare 2D drawings using the SolidWorks CAD tool.
• 3D part modelling of Sheet Metal parts and extrusions using SolidWorks software.
• Remastering the legacy CAD models to latest SolidWorks standards and convert the Sheet Metal into DXF for production requirements.
• Prepare the Engineering Drawings (EDR) drawings using Draft Sight CAD tool.
• Create/ modify SolidWorks assemblies for parts, drawings, etc.
• Create detailed 2D engineering drawings, Production drawings and GA drawings using SolidWorks.
• Create new standard parts, Kits and configurable assemblies and sub-assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Copy the Top-Level part number from one branch to other or multiple branches.
• Assigning new parts numbers for the truck components and assemblies using JDE.
• Document design process and engineering changes.
• Check-In and Check-Out of models in PDM live environment.

Duties

The Design Engineer will perform various engineering work in designing products and custom options to meet specific customer needs.

• 4+ years of experience working with truck body design elements.


• In-depth knowledge of truck body manufacturing process.


• In-depth knowledge of truck body regulatory requirements.


• Solidworks/ PDM proficiency and certification is preferred.


• Excellent working knowledge of sheet metal design and weld fabrication processes, along with knowledge of assembly and welding procedures.


• Ability to “work with the team\" and engage in work \"hands-on\".


• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.


• English Proficiency: Excellent written and oral Communication is required
