Sun Pharma is seeking a Sr. Manager Engineering - Utility Lead to oversee Clean & Black Utilities, water systems, HVAC, and energy optimization at the Halol plant.

The role requires 15+ years in pharmaceutical plant utilities with 5+ years in leading large utility operations, budget oversight, and ensuring regulatory compliance across IBR, PCB, and US FDA audits.

Qualifications

• B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering.
• 15+ years in pharmaceutical plant utility management, with 5+ years leading large utility operations.

Responsibilities

• Sterile Water & Steam Systems: oversight of high-purity water generation and distribution loops (WFI/PW/PSG) and sterile gas distribution.
• HVAC & Environmental Utilities: support for cleanroom HVAC, dehumidifiers, flow balancing, and differential pressure across zones.
• Energy Efficiency, Sustainability & Performance Metrics: lead energy optimization, plant reliability, and downtime management (ISO 50001 alignment).
• Regulatory Compliance, Safety & Statutory Approvals: ensure IBR/PCB norms, pharma audits, CSV/21 CFR 11, and safety protocols.
• Leadership, Budgeting & People Management: direct utility team and manage CAPEX/OPEX budgets.

Key responsibilities:

1. 1. Sterile Water & Steam Systems: Oversight of high-purity water generation and storage/distribution loops-Water for Injection (WFI), Purified Water (PW), Pure Steam Generators (PSG), and sterile Nitrogen/gas distribution.
2. 2. HVAC & Environmental Utilities: Support for cleanroom HVAC systems, dehumidifiers, chilled water/hot water flow balancing, and differential pressure regimes across classified zones (Grade A to D).
3. 3. Energy Efficiency, Sustainability & Performance Metrics
   1. 1. Energy Optimization (SEC): Track record of lowering Specific Energy Consumption (SEC) through heat recovery systems, variable speed drives (VFDs), boiler efficiency improvement, and energy audits (ISO 50001 alignment).
   2. 2. Plant Effectiveness & Reliability: Maximizing MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and minimizing MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) for all critical utility assets to guarantee zero unplanned downtime for sterile production blocks.
   3. 3. Downtime Management: Strategic planning and execution of preventive, predictive (vibration, thermography, oil analysis), and breakdown maintenance schedules.
   4. 4. Regulatory Compliance, Safety & Statutory Approvals
      1. 1. Statutory & Regulatory Standards: Ensuring strict compliance with Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR), Pollution Control Board (PCB/GPCB) norms, Factory Rules, and local safety authority guidelines.
      2. 2. Pharma Audits & QMS: Full ownership of DQ/IQ/OQ/PQ validation, computerized system validation (CSV / 21 CFR Part 11) for utility PLC/SCADA, and facing global regulatory audits (USFDA, EU GMP, WHO-GMP).
      3. 3. EHS & Boiler/Pressure Vessel Safety: Implementation of high safety standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, pressure vessel integrity testing, and chemical handling procedures.
4. 5. Leadership, Budgeting & People Management
   1. 1. Team Leadership: Directing, coaching, and upskilling a team of utility managers, shift engineers, boiler operators, and maintenance technicians.
   2. 2. CAPEX & OPEX Budgeting: Managing annual utility operating budgets, fuel procurement strategies, spare parts inventory control, and executing utility infrastructure upgrade projects.
   3. 3. Communication & Stakeholder Synergy: Strong cross-functional alignment with Site Manufacturing Heads, Quality Assurance, EHS, and executive leadership.
