Job summary

Sun Pharma in Halol-2 seeks a Sr.Manager Engineering – Utility Lead (Clean & Black Utilities) to lead high-purity water, steam systems, HVAC, and environmental utilities. You will drive energy efficiency, plant reliability, and compliance across regulatory standards for pharma manufacturing.

The role requires 15+ years in pharmaceutical plant utility management, with 5+ years leading large utility operations.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in pharmaceutical plant utility management.
• 5+ years leading large utility operations in a Pharmaceutical manufacturing site.
• Experience with Black Utilities & high-capacity heavy installations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee sterile water and steam systems, PW, WFI, PSG, and nitrogen distribution.
• Support cleanroom HVAC, dehumidifiers, water flow balancing, and pressure regimes across classified zones.
• Drive energy efficiency, SEC reductions, and sustainability metrics.
• Plan preventive, predictive maintenance and downtime management.
• Ensure regulatory compliance, safety, and audits (IBR, PCB/GPCB, USFDA, EU GMP, WHO-GMP).
• Lead, coach, and manage a team of utility professionals and coordinate with site leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Sterile Water & Steam Systems: Oversight of high-purity water generation and storage/distribution loops—Water for Injection (WFI), Purified Water (PW), Pure Steam Generators (PSG), and sterile Nitrogen/gas distribution.
• HVAC & Environmental Utilities: Support for cleanroom HVAC systems, dehumidifiers, chilled water/hot water flow balancing, and differential pressure regimes across classified zones (Grade A to D).
• Energy Efficiency, Sustainability & Performance Metrics
• Energy Optimization (SEC): Track record of lowering Specific Energy Consumption (SEC) through heat recovery systems, variable speed drives (VFDs), boiler efficiency improvement, and energy audits (ISO 50001 alignment).
• Plant Effectiveness & Reliability: Maximizing MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and minimizing MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) for all critical utility assets to guarantee zero unplanned downtime for sterile production blocks.
• Downtime Management: Strategic planning and execution of preventive, predictive (vibration, thermography, oil analysis), and breakdown maintenance schedules.
• Regulatory Compliance, Safety & Statutory Approvals
• Statutory & Regulatory Standards: Ensuring strict compliance with Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR), Pollution Control Board (PCB/GPCB) norms, Factory Rules, and local safety authority guidelines.
• Pharma Audits & QMS: Full ownership of DQ/IQ/OQ/PQ validation, computerized system validation (CSV / 21 CFR Part 11) for utility PLC/SCADA, and facing global regulatory audits (USFDA, EU GMP, WHO-GMP).
• EHS & Boiler/Pressure Vessel Safety: Implementation of high safety standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, pressure vessel integrity testing, and chemical handling procedures.
• Leadership, Budgeting & People Management
• Team Leadership: Directing, coaching, and upskilling a team of utility managers, shift engineers, boiler operators, and maintenance technicians.
• CAPEX & OPEX Budgeting: Managing annual utility operating budgets, fuel procurement strategies, spare parts inventory control, and executing utility infrastructure upgrade projects.
• Communication & Stakeholder Synergy: Strong cross-functional alignment with Site Manufacturing Heads, Quality Assurance, EHS, and executive leadership.

Job Requirements

• Educational Qualification: B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering
• Experience: 15+ years in pharmaceutical plant utility management, with 5+ years leading large utility operations in a Pharmaceutical manufacturing site.
