Job summary

Optum India is seeking a Senior Manager to lead a UX design team, collaborating with researchers, developers and product managers to deliver modern SaaS solutions through human-centered design. The role supervises senior designers and drives functional prototypes, specifications and usability standards.

You will mentor teams, guide design activities, and ensure alignment with business goals while promoting accessibility and design system fidelity across our health-tech platforms.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering and technology or related field.
• 5+ years of UX design experience, including wireframes and prototypes.
• 5+ years of user-centered design with emphasis on simplicity and minimalism.
• 5+ years of experience conducting user research and concept testing.
• 3+ years of managing multiple UX professionals to a cohesive vision.
• Portfolio of relevant UX deliverables and strong communication across audiences.

Role Overview

Optum's User Experience Design Team is looking for an energetic and creative Senior Manager who is passionate about the design of great health care experiences. As a Senior Manager you will report to the Senior Director of Product Design and supervise a team of senior designers. You will collaborate with researchers, developers and product managers to create best-in-class, interoperable and modern SaaS solutions using human-centered methodologies.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage a team of senior level product designers to design compelling and useful products
• Create functional prototypes, static mockups as well as textual specifications - each describing in as much detail and fidelity as possible the intended user-observable behavior of the final product
• Collaborate with stakeholders including UX Leads, Product Managers and Development Managers to identify, plan, prioritize and implement project design activities
• Participate in gathering research insights and concept testing to inform design decisions
• Perform design duties for one or more projects to meet UX, technical, and business needs
• Advocate for user-centered design including research and accessibility
• Leverage and contribute to existing design pattern libraries and interface guidelines

Required Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering and technology or related filed
• 5+ years of UX design experience, including creating wireframes and prototypes to communicate design concepts
• 5 years of demonstrated understanding of mature user-centered design and research practices with a deep background and bias towards simplicity, elegance, and minimalism
• 5+ years of experience participating in user research and concept testing with real users
• 3+ years of proven ability to manage multiple user experience professionals towards a cohesive vision
• Portfolio of relevant user experience project deliverables
• Proven excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts clearly and persuasively across diverse audiences at various levels of our organization including executive leadership

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Information Architecture, Communications, Computer Science, or a related discipline
• Experience with enterprise software, B2B applications or large employee-facing systems in the medical, healthcare or financial domains
• Proven ability managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Knowledge of UX- related analytics, metrics, and measurement techniques
• Proven involvement in the UX community (e.g. associations, meet-ups, clubs, conferences)
