MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Lead R&D, new project development, type test projects, standard compliance, cost optimization, and global product development.

KEY ACTIVITIES:
- Lead the end-to-end development of new transformer products from concept to commercialization.
- Understand customer requirements, market trends, and future business opportunities.
- Coordinate prototype development, testing, validation, and product release.
- Conduct technical research on new materials, insulation systems, cooling methods, and emerging technologies.
- Benchmark competitor products and industry best practices.
- Prepare project plans, budgets, timelines, technical proposals, and milestone schedules.
- Coordinate with NABL/accredited laboratories for testing activities.
- Analyze test results and implement corrective actions for successful qualification.
- Ensure all new products comply with applicable national and international standards.
- Support certification and regulatory approval activities.
- Standardize components to reduce manufacturing cost.
- Monitor project progress against approved plans.
- Ensure projects are completed within schedule, budget, and quality targets.
- Mentor engineers and ensure effective collaboration across departments.
- Prepare and review design calculations, specifications, BOMs, drawings, design reports, validation reports, and project documentation.
- Present periodic project status reports to management.
- Implement lessons learned from field performance and failure analysis.
- Perform technical risk assessments during product development.
- Develop engineering standards, SOPs, design manuals, and best practices.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualification (Must/Desirable):
- B. Tech / M. Tech in Electrical Engineering.
Experience:
- Minimum 13 years’ experience in design and development (Transformer Industry only).
Standards:
- Deep knowledge of IS, IEC, IEEE, etc.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
- Expertise in Transformer Design, Research & Development, and New Product Development.
- Strong knowledge of Type Test Requirements, NABL laboratory procedures, and certification processes.
- Excellent understanding of Transformer Cost Optimization and Value Engineering (VE/VA).
- Strong knowledge of Global Utility Specifications and customer requirements for US, UK, European, Middle East, and Indian markets.
- Experience in Technical Report Writing, feasibility studies, and project documentation.
- Excellent Presentation and Communication Skills for management reviews and customer discussions.
- Strong knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Analysis, and Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA).
