Job Overview
The Connected Living Solutions business unit is currently seeking a proven Sr Manager Manufacturing and Development Engineering to provide strategic direction and leadership for our India based Manufacturing and Development Engineering Team. The team will be comprised of process leaders for stamping, molding, and industrial engineering, ensuring launched processes are optimized for quality, output, and cost. They design and develop manufacturing processes and apply them for the realization of new product introductions as well as the optimization of industrialized products. The team also supports Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts related to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. They act as the interface between product engineering and production to ensure manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp up, as well as support the research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Manufacturing Development Engineers responsible for LEANPD driven new product development projects, focusing on the key deliverables of LOT (Launch on Time), LOQ (Launch on Quality) and LOC (Launch on Cost).
- Promote Operational Excellence through the timely execution of projects/initiatives related to tool launch effectiveness, quality, productivity, innovation, and talent.
- Actively manage resource allocation and capacities to ensure key new product development are executed to critical milestones.
- Foster an environment of employee development using performance management tools, including setting goals, conducting performance evaluations, and providing training and development opportunities.
- Strengthen an innovative culture that values, recognizes and awards creative thinking.
- Drive a data-driven environment through analytical problem-solving techniques such as Six Sigma, DMAIC, 8D, etc. to determine root cause of stamping, molding and assembly opportunities with recommended solutions, driving improved process capability.
- Collaborate with Product Development Engineering to ensure designs meet cost objectives and are driven by design for manufacturability principles.
- Measure and analyze the department's performance against defined key performance indicators and regularly report to higher management.
- Collaborate with other areas such as Operations, Strategic Sourcing, Quality and Product Development Engineering to ensure smooth cooperation, communication and leverage of synergies.
- Develop the team’s technical and leadership capabilities ensuring a pathway of succession.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost‑effectiveness.
- Identify and mitigate risks in any manufacturing process, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry’s best practices.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends and drive the adoption of innovative solutions to improve manufacturing capabilities.
- Maintain and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory agency requirements, ISO standards, and customer requirements, ensuring compliance across all manufacturing processes with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial or manufacturing engineering; advanced degree a plus.
- 10–15 years of experience working within the manufacturing engineering discipline, with at least 3–5 years in a management role.
- Management experience within functional/sub-functional areas and knowledge across related functions.
- Strong team leader, ability to think strategically and execute tactically to deliver results.
- Strong understanding of stamping, molding and assembly processes, lean manufacturing principles, and quality control methodologies.
- Ability to understand and apply financial principles in CAPEX and project justifications.
- Familiarity with other core manufacturing processes including plating and extrusion.
- GB or BB in Six Sigma (Lean Design or DMAIC) preferred but not required.
- Capability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic global environment with multiple changing priorities.
- Proficient in MS Office Software such as Excel, MS Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Experience in interacting with senior management, with the ability to change thinking and gain acceptance from others.
- Ability to establish and assure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels within and outside of the organization.
- Project management knowledge preferred but not required.
- Willingness to travel as needed to support business objectives (local suppliers).
