Job summary

Sun Pharma in Mumbai invites a seasoned Manager/Sr. Manager - Inventory Management to lead global inventory health, material planning, and stock control across international plants.

You will drive digital transformation, optimize working capital, and coordinate with manufacturing, planning, procurement, logistics, and finance to ensure robust supply and service levels.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate in Supply Chain / Operations or related field.
  • 10–15 years of experience in inventory management or SCM planning/operations.
  • Pharmaceutical (formulation) industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor plant-level inventory health with real-time stock visibility.
  • Manage material planning and availability aligned with production needs.
  • Track batches and monitor shelf life; mitigate excesses, expiries, stock-outs.
  • Lead inventory optimization, safety stock, replenishment, and policy strategies.
  • Drive digital transformation with BI tools and automated reporting.
  • Coordinate with plants, planning, procurement, logistics, finance, and commercial teams.
  • Provide inventory insights to support S&OP and IBP processes.
  • Govern inventory reporting standards across geographies.

Key responsibilities:
Operations Management (SGO International Plants)
  • Monitor plant-level inventory health and ensure accurate and real-time stock visibility.
  • Ensure effective material planning and availability aligned with production requirements.
  • Manage batch-wise inventory tracking and shelf life monitoring.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to excess inventory, expiries, and stock-outs.
Inventory Optimization & Working Capital Management
  • Lead initiatives to reduce overall inventory levels while maintaining customer service commitments.
  • Evaluate and optimize safety stock strategies, replenishment models, stocking policies, and inventory segmentation approaches.
  • Drive continuous improvement programs focused on inventory turns, stock availability, and inventory productivity.
  • Identify opportunities to minimize excess inventory and improve inventory utilization across global facilities
Digital Transformation & Process Automation
  • Champion automation of inventory reporting and analytical processes through advanced BI and planning tools.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate manual reporting activities and enhance real-time visibility.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives involving predictive analytics, AI, and intelligent inventory management solutions.
  • Implement scalable reporting frameworks to support global growth and operational excellence.
  • Establish and govern standardized inventory reporting processes across international manufacturing plants and distribution networks.
  • Ensure consistent inventory policies, data standards, and KPI definitions across all geographies.
  • Monitor global inventory health, identify risks, and drive corrective actions to improve inventory productivity.
  • Lead governance reviews for inventory accuracy, inventory aging, excess stock, slow-moving materials, and obsolete inventory.
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Partner with manufacturing plants, supply chain planning, procurement, logistics, finance, and commercial teams across multiple regions.
  • Provide inventory insights to support Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and Integrated Business Planning (IBP/Kinaxis) processes.
  • Act as the central point of contact for inventory analytics and reporting requirements for international stakeholders.
  • Facilitate alignment between global standards and regional business requirements.

Educational Qualification
  • Postgraduate in Supply Chain / Operations / or related field
Experience
