Job summary

Shapoorji Pallonji Group is seeking a seasoned Cost Controller/Quantity Surveyor to lead budgeting, cost monitoring, and value engineering for Mumbai projects. The role focuses on cost optimization and disciplined financial management across the project lifecycle.

You will prepare cost plans, update budgets during design development, analyze variances, and finalize contracts while ensuring all expenditures are recorded and controlled. Strong leadership of a survey team is expected.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the Budget for a Project before the start with a systematic approach to support management decisions.
• Update concept budget as per design development level details.
• Corrections and updates in original cost plans with variance analysis for market escalations, delays or schedule changes.
• Cost Monitoring and controlling with systematic periodic reviews throughout the project lifecycle.
• Preparing Cost to complete reports.
• Control project expenses by ensuring only approved costs are incurred and all costs are recorded and tracked.
• Explore value engineering options with design, construction management and procurement to reduce costs.
• Focus on adopting latest civil engineering technologies and process improvements to cut costs and boost productivity.
• Provide input to design team from lessons learned to strengthen project policies.
• Prepare and float tender documents, prepare itemwise rate analysis, negotiate and finalize contracts.
• Manage and develop a team of quantity surveyors, cost engineers and cost managers for take-offs and BOQs.
• Provide information on consumption and expenses to enable construction teams to deliver cost-efficient projects.
• Recommend procurement strategies and ensure documentation for insurance, bank guarantees and statutory permissions.
• Document material inventory and reconcile statements.
• Establish cash flow in coordination with construction execution.
• Correspondence regarding contract conditions during execution and settlement of disputes.

Job description

Operations:

• Prepare the Budget for a Project before the start with a systematic and structured approach to enable Management to take decisions on the commercial viability of the Project.
• Updating concept budget as per design development level details
• Corrections and updates in the original cost plans with variance analysis towards market escalations, project delays or changes in project execution schedule.
• Cost Monitoring and controlling with systematic periodic reviews during the entire tenure of the project
• Preparing Cost to complete reports.
• Control Project expenses by ensuring that, only approved expenses take place and ensure that all of the costs within the projects are accurately recorded and tracked at each phase of the projects lifecycle
• Working out value engineering options with design team, construction management & procurement for reducing out turn cost on projects, looking at the entire project and all of its components with practical application not to over engineer” that drives up the construction costs.
• Focusing on use of latest civil engineering technologies, initiating process improvements for achieving bottom line cost reduction objectives and productivity targets
• Providing input to design team based on the learning’s from other project for formulation of policies, which has acted as backbone to the organization.
• Prepare and float tender documents, Prepare item wise rate analysis, Comparison, Negotiation and Finalization of Contracts.
• Managing & developing the team of quantity surveyors /cost engineers & cost managers) for quantity take off & preparing BOQ’s.
• Provide relevant information related to consumption and expenses linked with construction to enable the Construction Management teams to deliver projects in a cost-efficient manner.
• Recommending the necessary procurement strategy
• Preparation and verification of commercial terms related to Project Insurance, Bank Guarantees, Statutory permissions related to contract.
• Documentation for Material Inventory, Verification of Reconciliation statements etc
• Establish cash flow in conjunction with construction execution.
• Correspondence with respect to Contract conditions during the execution of Works.
• Settlement of Disputes arising during the currency of contract and post contract termination or completion
