Job summary

TraceGains, located in India, seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to own the end-to-end lifecycle of ML/AI systems in the Food and Beverage domain. This role will be based in India and report to the Head of Artificial Intelligence.

You will design datasets, evaluate systems, and collaborate across engineering, product, and sales while driving AI deliverables and customer experience improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, SE, Data Eng, ML or related field.
• 5+ years in software/AI/ML engineering shipping production-grade systems.
• Experience building production services and data pipelines in Python; C# preferred.
• Knowledge graphs, graph databases, semantic modeling, ontology concepts.
• Ability to design and interpret AI/ML evaluation metrics including quality, latency and cost.
• 2+ years with Azure (preferred) or AWS/GCP alternatives.

Reporting to the Head of Artificial Intelligence, the Senior Machine Learning Engineer is responsible for developing and owning the end-to-end lifecycle of Machine Learning and AI systems in the Food and Beverage science domain. This position will be located in India.

In this role, a typical day will look like:

• Designing datasets, evaluation criteria, and test cases for AI systems.
• Measuring and monitoring the cost, performance, and accuracy of AI systems.
• Leading independent experimentation design and code design around ML systems.
• Working across multiple teams, including engineering, product, and sales, without always having explicit instruction from leadership.
• Working with modern agentic coding paradigms to accelerate general software engineering and helping to educate others in these best practices.
• Working closely with AI product teams to understand how best to deliver a great customer experience in the design of our AI deliverables.

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering, data engineering, AI/ML engineering, or related experience, with demonstrated ability to ship production-grade systems across the product lifecycle.
• Experience building production services, data pipelines and integrations in Python, with ideally additional experience as well in C#
• Production-grade experience with knowledge graphs, graph databases, semantic modeling, ontology concepts, or relationship-based data representations.
• Ability to design and interpret evaluation metrics for AI and ML systems, including model quality, retrieval quality, search relevance, classification performance, latency, cost, reliability, and user impact.
• 2+ years experience working with Azure cloud platform (preferred), or AWS / GCP alternatively.
