Job summary

Aggreko plc in Pune, India is seeking a Senior Legal Manager to support both the growing India business and the build-out of a manufacturing platform. You will lead India legal support across commercial contracting, manufacturing set-up, supplier contracts, property and facilities matters, project and rental agreements, regulatory compliance, corporate governance and external counsel management.

Responsibilities

• Lead India legal support for manufacturing facility development and operation, including property, lease, construction, facilities and utilities.
• Draft, review and negotiate supplier, component, manufacturing, engineering, service and facilities agreements.
• Advise on Indian regulatory compliance including licenses, factory, labour, environmental and import/export rules.
• Provide general business legal support for India operations, including tenders, bids and project contracts.
• Manage disputes and external counsel for mediation, arbitration or litigation in India.
• Ensure corporate governance and compliance with Group DOA, risk policies and procurement requirements.

Job description

Bring your energy to Aggreko as Senior Legal Manager - India. This role is designed to support both a maturing India operating business and the build-out of a manufacturing platform. The successful candidate will lead India legal support across commercial contracting, manufacturing set-up, supplier contracting, property and facilities matters, project and rental contracts, regulatory and compliance issues, corporate governance, disputes and external counsel management. The role requires a lawyer who can move comfortably between strategic manufacturing workstreams and fast-paced operational contracting, with the judgment to balance legal risk, business urgency and Aggreko’s governance requirements.

What you’ll do:

• Lead Legal Support for India Manufacturing Facility:Oversee the legal aspects of establishing, fitting out, and operationalizing the India manufacturing facility, including property, lease, construction, facilities, and utility arrangements.

• Draft and Negotiate Commercial Agreements:Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of supplier, component, manufacturing, engineering, service, and facilities agreements.

• Advise on Indian Regulatory Compliance:Provide guidance on Indian manufacturing regulatory requirements, industrial licenses, factory, labour, environmental, health and safety, fire, utilities, import/export, and customs compliance.

• Provide General Business Legal Support:Offer comprehensive legal support for India business operations, including drafting transactional rental contracts, supporting large projects, and advising on tenders, bids, and general operational matters.

• Manage Disputes and Claims in India:Handle and oversee disputes and claims within India, encompassing early case assessment, negotiation, settlement strategies, and managing external counsel for mediation, arbitration, or litigation.

• Ensure Corporate Governance and Compliance:Provide corporate governance and company secretarial support for India entities, and ensure all matters are escalated and approved in accordance with Group DOA, Contract Risk Management Policy, Sanctions Policy, and procurement requirements.

You are:

• Qualified lawyer (LLB or equivalent) in India with approximately 10+ years PQE or equivalent, ideally including substantial in-house experience in energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, industrial, equipment, engineering or project businesses.

• Strong commercial contracting experience across procurement, manufacturing, supply chain, services, rentals, O&M, construction/facilities, logistics and customer-facing project contracts.

• Strong understanding of Indian contract law, corporate law, employment/labour, dispute resolution, competition, anti-bribery, sanctions/export controls and regulatory frameworks relevant to industrial operations.

• Qualification as a Company Secretary (ICSI) or significant experience providing company secretarial support to Indian entities is strongly preferred.

• Comfort operating autonomously, prioritising competing business demands and giving clear recommendations under pressure. Commercially pragmatic, resilient and confident working with senior stakeholders in India and internationally.
