Job summary

Careernet in Chennai, India is seeking an experienced Unix/Linux Engineer to provide L3 support for Red Hat Linux and AIX, including complex production issue resolution and performance tuning.

The role leads OS upgrades, hardware refresh, platform modernization, and owns builds, patches, and decommissioning, with HA clustering using Pacemaker and Veritas CS. You will automate with Ansible and Shell, document processes, and mentor L2 engineers.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of hands-on Unix/Linux platform engineering and operations experience.
• Red Hat Linux and AIX 7.x L3 engineering support, including OS lifecycle management and upgrades.
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux provisioning/patching and Satellite for system builds and content lifecycle management.
• Clustering and high availability administration using Pacemaker and Veritas Cluster Server, including troubleshooting split brain and resource-level issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide L3 engineering support for Red Hat Linux and AIX platforms, including complex production issue resolution with root cause analysis and performance troubleshooting
• Lead major Unix and Linux initiatives such as OS upgrades, hardware refresh, and platform modernization across enterprise environments
• Own build, patching, upgrades, remediation, and decommissioning activities for Red Hat Linux and AIX systems
• Administer high availability and clustering solutions including Red Hat Pacemaker and Veritas Cluster Server, covering failover/failback and routine maintenance
• Drive operational automation and tooling using Ansible and scripting (Shell/Bash), and maintain documentation, audit readiness, and knowledge transfer to L2 engineers
