Job summary

Mahindra And Mahindra Limited seeks a Sr Lead Engineer for the Body Systems CoE to own durability, NVH and crash performance. You will translate RWUP insights into DVPs, guide design through CAE and lab results, and drive robust DFMEA/CFMEA across BIW components.

The role requires deep materials knowledge, regulatory awareness, and experience with body-in-white CAD data, benchmark analyses, and cross-functional collaboration with product planning and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Extract DVP requirements from PDB and map to Body systems.
• Define DVPs at component and system levels based on RWUP.
• Suggest design proposals to meet weight targets without compromising performance.
• Ensure CFMEA and DFMEA robustness in early design stages.

Responsibilities

• Understand and translate performance targets from RWUP into design inputs.
• Analyze benchmark tests and reports for Body systems performance.
• Develop and verify DVPs across BIW components and assemblies.
• Provide design proposals based on CAE results (Crash, NVH, Durability).
• Review test plans and sign off on tests at component, system and vehicle levels.
• Identify root causes of failures and propose corrective actions with CoE Heads.

Sr Lead Engineer - Body Systems CoE

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

• A comprehensive understanding of vehicle durability, NVH and crash performance
• Ability to extract DVP requirements related to Body systems from PDB (Product Description Book) provided by Product Planning.
• Sharing Inputs for creating master sections of Body systems and verifying its adequacy with ref to Performance.
• Ensuring Lesson learnt related to performance are deployed in the early stage of the design.
• Analyzing benchmark tests & reports in terms of performance for the Body systems.
• Defining the component and system level DVPs of Body systems based on RWUP (Real World Usage Pattern) study.
• Setting Performance Targets based on RWUP.
• Sharing valuable inputs related to Performance and making CFMEA and DFMEA Robust.
• Deep understanding of materials used in Body systems and its manufacturing process.
• Provide performance inputs for making BIW CAD data maturity along with relevant Benchmarks Review and Analyze the released Body Systems data and share performance feedback of BIW Joinery, Sections and Load path etc.
• Design action recommendation/solution based on the CAE results (Crash, NVH, Durability) / Test /Lab results that are not meeting the Performance.
• Provide Design Proposals to meet Weight targets without compromising on Performance.
• Good understanding needed on the Regulation and GNCAP/ENCAP/BENCAP requirement in Crash Checking the supplier level DVPs and provide feedback
• Verify the test plan and test setup for component, system and vehicle level testing sign off.
• Assessing the subsystem & components level testing in the testing Labs
• Identify Root cause for the BIW/System/Sub-system level failures in vehicle testing / Lab / Supplier Rig level Testing and propose solution to meet Performance Targets in consultation with CoE Heads.
• Ensuring the recommended solutions for any deviation sign off
