Senior Java Developer (5-8 Years Experience)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-grade backend systems, RESTful APIs, and distributed microservices using Java and Spring Boot. The ideal candidate will bring strong architectural judgment, hands‑on coding ability, and the maturity to mentor junior developers while driving technical decisions across the stack. Familiarity with modern AI‑assisted development practices is expected as part of the day‑to‑day engineering workflow.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable Java backend applications and REST APIs using Spring Boot.
• Architect and evolve microservices, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and performance at scale.
• Own database design and optimization across MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle, including query performance tuning.
• Define and enforce secure authentication and authorization standards using Spring Security, JWT, and OAuth2.
• Drive code quality through design/architecture reviews, coding standards, and technical mentorship of junior and mid-level developers.
• Diagnose and resolve complex performance, concurrency, and production issues across the application stack.
• Own API documentation and contracts using Swagger/OpenAPI, and guide integration with internal and third‑party systems.
• Partner with architects, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Champion and govern the responsible use of AI tools for coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and code review, ensuring generated code meets security and quality standards.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline design and deployment automation in collaboration with DevOps.

Required Skills

• Java (8+) with deep expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and Hibernate/JPA.
• Strong track record designing and building REST APIs and third‑party integrations at scale.
• Advanced experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle, including schema design and performance tuning.
• Solid grounding in OOP, design patterns, multithreading, and concurrency.
• Proficiency with Maven/Gradle, Git, and standard branching/release workflows.
• Working knowledge of JSON/XML, HTTP/HTTPS, Spring Security, JWT, and OAuth2.
• Demonstrated experience using GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or similar AI tools in a professional development workflow.
• Ability to write effective prompts, critically validate AI-generated code, and apply secure coding and software engineering best practices.
• Prior experience leading a feature area, mentoring developers, or acting as a technical lead on a project.

Preferred Skills

• Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
• Kafka or RabbitMQ for event‑driven and asynchronous architectures.
• Redis or other caching solutions.
• CI/CD pipeline design using Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Deep experience with microservices architecture and API Gateway/service discovery patterns.
• Cloud platform experience AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong testing discipline using JUnit and Mockito.
• Experience defining or improving AI‑assisted development workflows for a team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5-8 years of hands‑on Java development experience, including at least 1-2 years in a senior or lead capacity.
• Relevant Java or cloud certifications are an advantage.

• Experience in large‑scale enterprise application development.
• Strong grasp of software architecture and design patterns.
• Exposure to API Gateway and service discovery tools.
• Hands‑on containerization and orchestration experience.
