Job summary

Datamatics Global Services, a Digital Technologies, Operations & Experiences company, seeks a Senior Java Backend Engineer / Tech Lead to design and build high-volume, low-latency applications using Java 17+ and Spring Boot.

You will lead junior developers, shape microservices architectures, implement CI/CD pipelines, containerize with Docker and orchestrate on Kubernetes, and drive observability and modernization efforts.

• 10+ years of backend development experience with Java 17+/Spring Boot.
• Strong experience in designing high-volume, low-latency Java applications.
• Proven leadership: guidance to junior/mid developers and architectural oversight.
• Hands-on with microservices, REST/gRPC, and messaging.

JD:

• Experience: 10 + years of experience as a Senior Backend Engineer / Tech Lead
• Scope: Design and develop high-volume, low-latency applications using Java 17+ and Spring Boot, ensuring code quality and system performance.
• Technical Leadership: Provide guidance to junior/mid-level developers and assist in overseeing workstreams to ensure architectural alignment.
• Architecture: Build and maintain scalable Microservices, ensuring robust service-to-service communication (REST, gRPC, or Messaging).
• Pipeline Automation: Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate testing and deployment, reducing manual overhead.
• Cloud & Containers: Containerize applications using Docker and manage orchestration via Kubernetes (AKS/EKS).
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and observability to enhance the efficiency of development practices.
• Database Management: Writing and optimizing SQL queries (Oracle/ SQL) and managing data persistence layers.
• Observability: Implement logging, tracing, and monitoring to ensure 24/7 system health and rapid incident response.
• Hands-on Lead: Solving complex problems, performing POCs, creating frameworks, and ensuring high unit test coverage.
• DevOps Culture: Strong familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and continuous deployment.

Mandatory Skill Set

• Java (Backend): Minimum 10 years (Java 17/21) - Mandatory
• Spring Boot: Minimum 5 years (Spring Security, Spring Data JPA) - Mandatory
• Microservices: (Mandatory) REST, gRPC, or Messaging (Kafka/RabbitMQ).
• Cloud Experience: 3+ years in Azure (AKS, Functions, SQL) or AWS.
• DevOps & IaC: Terraform and CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab, or GitHub Actions) - Mandatory.
• Containers: Docker & Kubernetes (K8s) - Mandatory.
• Testing: JUnit 5, Mockito, and Testcontainers - Mandatory.
• Frontend Technology: Knowledge/Experience (approx. 40%) to assist in full-stack troubleshooting.
• Legacy Modernization: Experience in transitioning legacy systems to modern microservices.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of SQL / Oracle databases.
• Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack for system observability.
