About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Senior IT Administrator to run and secure our campus network and IT infrastructure. You will own day-to-day network operations, log monitoring and alerting, SIEM, and patch management, keeping our IT backbone highly available, secure, and audit-ready across offices and remote users.
Key Responsibilities
1. Network Management
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot routers, firewalls (Fortinet, Checkpoint), and L2/L3 switches (Cisco/HP)
- Manage VLANs, STP, LACP, OSPF/BGP, NAT, and routing policies
- Maintain secure campus LAN/WAN with segmentation and zero-trust principles
- Manage site-to-site and remote access VPNs
- Ensure redundancy, HA, and failover; handle L2/L3 incident resolution
- Configure and maintain Zabbix monitoring and Grafana dashboards for network and infrastructure health
- Tune alerts to reduce noise and define escalation policies
- Analyse network performance and support capacity planning
- Review logs from firewalls, switches, servers, and endpoints to identify anomalies
3. SIEM & Security Operations
- Onboard log sources into the SIEM (Wazuh, Splunk, QRadar, Elastic, Sentinel, or similar)
- Build and tune correlation rules and use cases; triage and escalate security incidents
- Coordinate vulnerability assessments and track remediation
- Run periodic firewall rule audits and policy optimisation
- Own the patch lifecycle for Windows and Linux servers and endpoints: test groups, rollout, rollback, and compliance reporting
- Use patch tooling (WSUS/SCCM/Intune, Ansible, Red Hat Satellite, or equivalent)
- Apply server and endpoint hardening baselines
- Administer Windows Server and Linux environments, including Active Directory (GPO, DNS, DHCP, OU, RBAC) and file servers
- Manage endpoint onboarding, security compliance, and asset lifecycle
- Support email security and user access governance
6. Compliance, Backup & DR
- Support ISO 27001 and CMMI audit readiness with evidence, policies, and reviews
- Implement and test backup and disaster recovery strategies
- Maintain awareness of data loss prevention practices
Must-Have Skills
- Strong hands-on networking: VLAN, STP, LACP, OSPF, BGP, NAT, VPN
- Hands-on Fortinet and/or Checkpoint firewall configuration and troubleshooting
- Cisco/HP L2/L3 switch management
- Log analysis, monitoring, and alerting (Zabbix, Grafana)
- Working experience with a SIEM platform
- Patch management process and tooling for Windows and Linux
- Windows Server, Linux, and Active Directory administration
- Backup and recovery implementation
- Understanding of zero trust and endpoint protection
Good to Have
- Kubernetes exposure (network policies, ingress, basic troubleshooting)
- Scripting/automation: PowerShell, Bash, Ansible
- Prior exposure to ISO 27001 / CMMI audits
Preferred Certifications
CCNA/CCNP, Fortinet NSE, Checkpoint (CCSA/CCSE), RHCE, Microsoft Certified, or a security certification such as Security+ or CEH.
