Job summary

Creative Geometry in Bengaluru is seeking a Design Lead to steer interior design efforts across multiple projects. You will mentor designers, review concepts, and ensure quality, aesthetics, and technical accuracy from concept to execution.

You will collaborate with project managers, site teams, and procurement to align designs with budgets and timelines. A strong background in residential and commercial interiors, plus leadership experience, is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in interior design, with leadership exposure preferred.
• Proven ability to lead teams, mentor designers, and manage client interactions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the interior design team across multiple projects.
• Review and approve design concepts, layouts, 3D views, material selections, and detailed drawings.
• Ensure consistency in design quality, functionality, aesthetics, and technical detailing.
• Establish design standards, templates, and SOPs for the team.
• Provide design direction and solutions for complex project requirements.
• Oversee projects from initial briefing through design development and handover to execution.
• Coordinate with PMs, site engineers, QS, procurement, factory, and QC teams.
• Monitor schedules, dependencies, and milestones; ensure timely design deliverables.
• Participate in client meetings and guide clients through design decisions.
• Allocate projects to team members based on capability; conduct regular reviews.
• Drive design quality checks and documentation; minimize revisions.
• Balance aesthetics, functionality, quality and cost.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design Leadership

• Lead and mentor the interior design team across multiple projects.
• Review and approve design concepts, layouts, 3D views, material selections, and detailed drawings.
• Ensure consistency in design quality, functionality, aesthetics, and technical detailing.
• Establish design standards, templates, and SOPs for the team.
• Provide design direction and solutions for complex project requirements.

2. Project Design Management

• Oversee projects from initial briefing through design development and handover to execution.
• Ensure design deliverables are completed within agreed timelines.
• Monitor project design schedules, dependencies, and milestones.
• Ensure proper coordination between concept, 3D, material selection, 2D/GFC drawings, and execution teams.
• Minimise design errors, rework, and unnecessary revisions.

3. Client Management

• Participate in client meetings, presentations, and design discussions for key projects.
• Understand client requirements, lifestyle, functional needs, budget, and design preferences.
• Present design concepts and guide clients through design decisions.
• Manage expectations and ensure timely closure of design-related decisions.
• Handle escalations related to design and provide appropriate solutions.

4. Team Management

• Allocate projects and responsibilities among designers based on capability and workload.
• Conduct regular design reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Track individual and team performance against defined KRAs.
• Identify skill gaps and facilitate training and knowledge development.
• Build a culture of accountability, creativity, collaboration, and timely delivery.

5. Technical & Execution Coordination

• Work closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers, QS, Procurement, Factory, and QC teams.
• Ensure designs are practical, buildable, and aligned with site conditions.
• Review GFC drawings and critical execution details before release.
• Resolve design-related site issues and coordinate necessary revisions.
• Ensure design intent is maintained during execution.

6. Material & Cost Awareness

• Guide the team in material selection, finishes, hardware, lighting, furniture, and other interior elements.
• Ensure design decisions are aligned with the approved project budget.
• Coordinate with costing and procurement teams for value engineering where required.
• Develop design solutions that balance aesthetics, functionality, quality, and cost.

7. Process & Quality Control

• Implement and monitor design SOPs and documentation standards.
• Ensure proper documentation of client approvals, MOMs, revisions, and design decisions.
• Establish design quality checks before drawings and deliverables are issued.
• Monitor revision levels and identify recurring design issues.
• Drive continuous improvement in design processes and project delivery.

Candidate Profile

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree/diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.

Experience

• 712 years of relevant experience in interior design.
• Minimum 2-3 years in a team-lead/managerial role preferred.
• Experience in residential interiors, luxury interiors, commercial interiors, or design-build environments preferred.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of:
