Job summary

Narayana Health in Bengaluru's Mazumdar Shaw Medical Centre invites applications for a Senior House Officer (SHO) in Nephrology. The full-time position reports to the Consultant Nephrologist and Head of Department, and involves acute kidney injury, CKD management, and dialysis-related care.

You will perform histories, examinations, order labs, assist with procedures like central venous catheter insertion and renal biopsy, and participate in on-call duties to deliver patient-centered nephrology

Qualifications

• Assess and manage patients with AKI, CKD, electrolyte abnormalities, acid-base disorders, and hypertension.
• Participate in management of nephrology emergencies, including severe hyperkalemia, pulmonary edema, uremia.
• Assist in the care of patients receiving hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
• Perform comprehensive history taking, physical examination, clinical documentation, and daily patient reviews.
• Request and interpret relevant laboratory, imaging, and renal investigations.
• Assist consultants with procedures such as central venous catheter insertion, renal biopsy, and dialysis-related procedures.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis and promptly identify complications.
• Coordinate referrals and care with ICU, emergency medicine, cardiology, endocrinology, urology, and others.
• Communicate effectively with patients and relatives regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and clinical progress.
• Maintain accurate medical records, discharge summaries, and treatment documentation.
• Participate in on-call, emergency, and ward duties according to the hospital rota.
• Follow hospital policies regarding infection prevention, patient safety, medication use, and clinical governance.
• Participate in teaching, audits, case discussions, continuing medical education, and department academic activities.
