Job summary

n Human Resources & Management Systems [ nHRMS ] seeks a Senior General Manager – E&I to head electrical, instrumentation and automation across the integrated steel plant at Bhilai. You will own power reliability, safety, and energy efficiency for DRI, SMS/CCM, rolling, CPP and utilities, with oversight of a major 132 kV grid upgrade.

Qualifications include BE/BTech in Electrical, 18–25 years E&I leadership in steel, CEIG/energy audits preferred, and readiness to relocate to Bhilai/Durg.

Qualifications

• Must-have BE/B.Tech in Electrical.
• CEIG electrical supervisor or equivalent preferred; energy-audit certification optional.
• MBA (Operations) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead plant-wide E&l maintenance strategy across DRI, SMS/CCM, rolling, CPP and utilities for uptime and reliability.
• Own Captive Power Plant electrical, power distribution, HT/EHV switchyard and 132 kV grid upgrade planning and approvals.
• Drive automation & instrumentation modernisation and energy-efficiency initiatives.
• Lead E&I for expansion/capex projects — engineering, vendor selection, installation and commissioning.
• Ensure electrical safety and statutory compliance; manage E&I budget, spares and vendors.
• Build and lead the plant E&I organisation with KPI/MIS and capability development.

2. ROLE BRIEF (→ feeds the agency JD)

Role summary (1–2 lines) Head all electrical, instrumentation and automation across the integrated plant — DRI, steel melting (SMS/CCM), rolling (strip & pipe), the Captive Power Plant and utilities — including the planned upgrade to a 132 kV grid power connection, plus E&I for expansion/capex projects. Owns plant-wide power reliability, automation, energy efficiency, electrical safety and the E&I organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead plant-wide E&I maintenance strategy (preventive/predictive/breakdown) across DRI, SMS/CCM, rolling, CPP and utilities for maximum uptime and reliability
• Own Captive Power Plant electrical, power distribution and grid interface — generation, HT/EHV switchyard, transformers, load management; and lead the planned upgrade to a 132 kV grid connection (EHV substation, CEIG/CSPTCL approvals, commissioning)
• Drive automation & instrumentation modernisation — mill drives, PLC/DCS, process controls — and energy‑efficiency (specific energy consumption)
• Lead E&I for expansion/capex projects — engineering, OEM/vendor selection, installation and commissioning of new lines/equipment
• Ensure electrical safety & statutory compliance (CEIG/Electrical Inspectorate, earthing, interlocks, energy audits); manage E&I budget, spares and vendors
• Build and lead the plant E&I organisation — section Sr. Managers/engineers, capability development, and KPIs/MIS
