Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled Python backend engineer in Bengaluru to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade backend services and data-processing components. You will build production-grade Python code with modular design, robust error handling, automated testing and strong documentation.

Collaborate with architects and cross-functional teams to define secure, scalable, cloud-ready patterns, and integrate with databases, REST APIs, and CI/CD pipelines.

Job description

• Design, develop and maintain Python-based backend services, automation utilities, API integrations and data-processing components for enterprise platforms.
• Build production-grade Python code with clear modular design, robust error handling, automated testing and strong documentation.
• Use Python to automate engineering workflows, validation checks, operational scripts, troubleshooting utilities and productivity accelerators.
• Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to define backend patterns for scalable, secure, observable and cloud-ready services.
• Integrate Python services with databases, message flows, REST APIs, CI/CD pipelines and enterprise system interfaces.
• Apply secure coding practices, data protection principles, dependency hygiene and vulnerability remediation throughout the software lifecycle.
• Contribute to DevOps practices including build pipelines, automated scans, release readiness, deployment support and environment validation.
• Work in Agile Scrum delivery by supporting requirement clarification, backlog refinement, sprint planning, estimation, demos and retrospectives.
• Review code, mentor junior engineers, promote reusable engineering assets and continuously improve delivery quality and productivity.
• Support production troubleshooting, root cause analysis, performance tuning and operational stability of deployed solutions.
• Responsible for decision‑making, optimizing processes, resource management, and overseeing team management as needed for task execution.

Requirements

• Must-have Python and engineering skills
• Strong hands‑on Python programming for backend development, scripting, automation and service integration.
• Good understanding of Python coding standards, object‑oriented programming, reusable module design, unit testing and debugging.
• Experience with REST API development or integration, JSON/XML handling, data processing and secure service‑to‑service communication.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle or similar enterprise databases.
• Practical experience with CI/CD, Jenkins or equivalent tools, source control using Git/Bitbucket/SVN, and issue tracking using Jira or similar tools.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals including SDLC, release management, code reviews, troubleshooting and technical documentation.
• Security, delivery and leadership attributes
• Security‑first mindset with appreciation for cryptography, secure coding, vulnerability scans, compliance requirements and release validation.
• Ability to work with cross‑functional teams, clarify requirements and convert business or operational needs into robust engineering solutions.
• Agile practitioner with experience in Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog management and collaborative pod‑based delivery.
• Strong communication, ownership and problem‑solving skills with the confidence to work independently on complex technical problems.
