Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a senior software engineer with 6+ years of experience in Python backend and React+TypeScript frontend to design, develop and deploy web solutions aligned with business goals.

You will work across cloud environments (Azure preferred), design REST APIs with FastAPI/Flask, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines and testing. Strong English communication and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of full-stack software development experience with Python backend and React+TypeScript frontend.
• Strong REST API design experience using FastAPI, Flask or similar frameworks.
• Experience with Python testing frameworks and frontend testing (Playwright, Vitest).
• Deployment/hosting on cloud platforms such as Azure (preferred) or AWS/GCP.
• CI/CD, Git and containerization are essential.
• Knowledge of databases (PostgreSQL/MSSQL) and ORM tooling (SQLAlchemy).
• Understanding of OOP, multithreading/multiprocessing, memory management and data structures.

Responsibilities

• Participate in ideation, design, development and deployment of web solutions.
• Design and deploy POCs and POVs across industry verticals and upscale to enterprise apps.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate solutions into Azure or other cloud environments.
• Mentor and support junior team members in the team.
• Embed SDLC practices within the team and community.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Actively participate in ideation, design, development, and deployment of web solutions, aligned with business objectives.

• Design and deploy Proof of Concepts (POCs) and Points of View (POVs) across various industry verticals, upscale the POCs to mid-scale top enterprise level applications.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate POC and upscaled solutions into cloud environments (Azure).

• Technically leading, Mentoring and supporting junior team members in the working team.

• Embedding the standard software development lifecycle practices in the team and wider in the community and practice.

Requirements and Specifications:

• Candidate should have 6+ years of relevant experience with full stack software development skills with backend development in Python and frontend development in React with Typescript.

• Hands on with writing automation tests, code quality, code scanning, peer Programming/Code Reviews.

• Excellent understanding in and experience in REST API designing and hand-on experience on using FastAPI, Flask etc.

• Experience in Python testing frameworks including frontend testing frameworks like playwright and vitest

• Deployment knowledge on Cloud platforms: Azure (preferred) or AWS or Google

• Knowledge of containerised solutions and CI/CD pipelines

• Understanding of Object-Oriented Concepts, Multithreading/Multiprocessing, Memory Management etc.

• Able to design appropriate data structures, apply efficient algorithms

• Excellent hands on with Databases (PostgreSQL/MSSQL etc); Good at writing complex SQL queries and procedural programming (TSQL)

• ORM Frameworks: SQL Alchemy/ any ORM libraries (Object Relational Mapper)

• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills (Client side, Server side, Database).

• Understanding and designing high level design/low level design architectures for software systems.

• Source code version management systems like Git (preferred), SVN, Mercury etc.

• Strong understanding of software engineering principles and fundamentals including data structures and algorithms, design patterns, messaging patterns, containerization, and enterprise application.

• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

• Passion to build software products.

• Experience contributing to the architecture/design of new or current applications (frontends, design patterns, reliability, scaling, automation)

• Knowledge of cloud tools like Azure and exposure to DevOps practices like CI/CD will be an added advantage.

• Nice to know about the following:

• Exposure to Generative AI applications software building is an added advantage but not mandatory

• Streamlit/Plotly-Dash/NiceGUI.

• Kubernetes and Microservices.

• Browser rendering behaviour and performance.

• Agile Methodology

• NoSQL (MongoDB or equivalents).

• Experience with Token Authentication Mechanisms (JWT etc)

• Overview of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science.

• Relevant Azure Certifications will be an added advantage.
