Job summary

Lab49/ION is seeking an experienced software engineer with 8+ years in development to lead frontend and backend efforts. You will design and build full‑stack applications using Angular (v10+) and Java/Spring Boot, develop RESTful services, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams in an agile environment.

You will mentor engineers, contribute to architecture decisions, and work with AWS, Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes to deliver scalable solutions for financial clients.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Strong expertise in Angular (v10+) and UI engineering.
• Backend development experience with Java/Spring Boot.
• Experience with REST APIs, Git, and modern development practices.
• Experience with microservices, AWS and Terraform, and containerization with Docker/Kubernetes.

• Partnering with our client to lead the design and build of user experiences using modern web development technologies. You will manage a team of UI engineers and collaborate with key contributors to deliver high-quality software within client environments.
• Contribute to the Interactive Practice within Lab49 by sharing best practices and driving a culture of high-quality UI engineering and modern development standards.
• Act as a hands‑on engineer and architect supporting initiatives from small features to complex systems. Lead projects, mentor teams, and collaborate with other practices to ensure successful delivery.
• Design and build full-stack applications using Angular (primary) and Java technologies (secondary), ensuring scalable architecture, efficient APIs, and seamless integration between front-end and backend services.
• Support backend development using Java (e.g., Spring/Spring Boot) to build and maintain RESTful services, business logic, and integrations with enterprise systems and databases.
• Partner with client stakeholders to build strong relationships, acting as a strategic technical advisor and helping expand long-term engagements.
• Support business development efforts through solution design, client presentations, and contributing to proposals and industry engagement.
• Help develop strong management practices within the Engineering practice, supporting career growth and mentoring across the team.
• Develop responsive web applications using Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS.
• Build backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Design and integrate RESTful APIs with frontend components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
• Write clean, testable code and participate in code reviews and CI/CD processes.
• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Strong expertise in Angular (v10+)
• Backend development experience with Java / Spring Boot.

• Experience with microservices, AWS and Terraform.
• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes and containerized deployments.
• Experience in capital markets, financial markets/products, consulting is highly desirable.
• Experience with Claude Code and GitHub Copilot is a plus.
