Job summary

Lab49/ION is seeking a hands-on senior software engineer and architect to design and deliver full-stack solutions for financial services. You will lead projects, mentor teams, and work directly with clients to translate business needs into scalable systems using Java/Spring Boot and React.

You will design RESTful services, integrate with enterprise systems, and contribute to proposals and industry engagement while fostering best practices, testability, and CI/CD in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Act as a hands-on engineer and architect supporting initiatives from small features to complex systems. Lead projects, mentor teams, and collaborate with other practices to ensure successful delivery.
• Design and build full-stack applications using Java (primary) and React (secondary), ensuring scalable architecture, efficient APIs, and seamless integration between back-end and front-end services.
• Support backend development using Java (e.g., Spring/Spring Boot) to build and maintain RESTful services, business logic, and integrations with enterprise systems and databases.
• Partner with client stakeholders to build strong relationships, acting as a strategic technical advisor and helping expand long-term engagements.
• Support business development efforts through solution design, client presentations, and contributing to proposals and industry engagement.
• Help develop strong management practices within the Engineering practice, supporting career growth and mentoring across the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Build backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop responsive web applications using React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS.
• Design and integrate RESTful APIs with frontend components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
• Write clean, testable code and participate in code reviews and CI/CD processes.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Backend development experience with Java / Spring Boot.
• Experience in React
• Experience with REST APIs, Git, and modern development practices.

Preferred

• Experience with microservices, AWS and Terraform.
• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes and containerized deployments.
• Experience in capital markets, financial markets/products, consulting is highly desirable.
• Experience with Claude Code and GitHub Copilot is a plus.
